Community logo

WELCOME to the CHOC Talk, the message forums of the CHOC Board (the Christian Homeschool Online Community Board for westside, and general, Portland, OR). These forums act as "classified ads" and message boards for Christian homeschoolers, and businesses and organizations that serve homeschoolers, to connect with each other to share specific details and information, including time-sensitive events, useful to the homeschool community. The forums are also a great place to connect with other like-minded individuals. Please feel free to contribute knowledge of an upcoming event, fun outing, great activity, new class starting, or query others about a homeschool issue or share homeschool ideas. The forum headings show what topics should go where. The sticky topics in each forum tell how to post and what is allowed (please remain respectful of a Christian worldview and always friendly, wholesome, and truthful). This is the interactive side of our CHOC board "directory" where you in the homeschool community can help generate those great ideas that get archived on our website! (To see the CHOC Board website, please click on our logo above). So join in the fun, post, and connect!

Snowboarding / Skiing Homeschooler Meet on alternate Wednesdays Nov. 18 through Apr. 14 (Mt. Hood)

Students and parents who would like to connect with other Christian homeschoolers who like to snowboard or ski.. or for those who would like to take lessons (if we have enough people sign up).. Here is our plan:

Meet at Timberline lodge between 8:00-8:30 AM, approximately every other Wednesday (pending slopes being open): 18 Nov.(?); Dec. 2; Dec. 16; Jan. 6; Jan. 20; Feb. 3; Feb. 17; Mar. 3: Mar. 17; Mar. 31; Apr. 14(?). The lifts close at 4:00 PM (or you can stay until your family wants to be done for the day)

Option #1: If you already have your own gear, buy a "Weekday-Plus" Pass for Timberline before Nov. 9th for all participating members of your family (at www.timberlinelodge.com). If you go all 10 times it works out to about $20./lift/ person/day.. It is an additional $25/lesson OR..

Option #2: Buy other passes on-line for the number of trips you want to make (at www.timberlinelodge.com).. OR..

Option #3: To also take lessons and/or for group rates on lift tickets and rentals with lessons, please contact Shelli Owen at someowens@gmail.com or (503)628-0182, before the end of October.

If you are interested in car-pooling please contact Shelli at the e-mail address or phone number above.
