Thank you, and welcome to the boards Jon!

Lots of great Saabs, Saab gurus, and even a Saab dog in there. Very nice, thanks for sharing those with us. emoticon

Wow,
In some 25 years of racing I've never had so much fun. A heroic effort by AMEC, what a rare group of special people. Super thanks to Mike Kamm for vision, patience, persistence and hard work.
As a bonus, Matt and I have never raced together. I did almost pass him once!!
To my fellow competitors, meeting you and swapping stories was a close second to racing on the fun scale.
Thanks to Claude(s) both and Dave Miller for saving #34Later from the crusher it is an amazing machine.
And you all must admit, short track ovals are real racing, even turning right.
Eric

Eric,

Thanks for the kind words and for supporting both of our Historic ice racing events.

I sent this note out to my Historic email list, but I am also sharing it here for all to see to illustrate just how remarkable this event was.

Hello Historic racers and fans,

Wow in a word, this year's Historic Ice racing event was simply outstanding! I would like to thank the twelve drivers who brought their cars out to this event to put on a fantastic show for the huge crowds at this year's Lake George Winter Carnival. I'd like to invite you all to take a look at the event pictures I've posted with comments starting on page eight on our message board thread located here: http://com4.runboard.com/bamecmessageboard.f1.t217 .

Friday afternoon's Test and Tune went very well about 6 cars particpating. Friday night we all got together for an excellent all you can eat seafood buffet at the Holiday Inn host hotel. We all sat together and I passed out the complimentary event T-shirts and event stickers designed and produced by our good friend RiK Rydant. Thanks again for supporting our event so faithfully again this year RiK!

Friday night's dinner. I apologize for the lack of a flash.

The Saturday night prime rib buffet and awards banquet at the Holiday Inn was stellar and we had 42 guests in attendance.

Stories were being swapped all evening from the podium as awards were handed out for each class. I urge you to read the message board thread to hear about the great people and stories from this event. Last minute entries Mike Space and Bill Lass both drove their classics over 300 miles each way to and from the event. They raced all weekend and drove them home! Many of you told me that for the three days of racing that was the best $45 they ever spent! I couldn't agree more.

Missing this year was our good friend and A.M.E.C.'s original flagger Karl Scharl. Karl got stuck working the weekend and couldn't come out to enjoy the festivities. In his place, I was quite proud to flag off the standing start races personally, and I really enjoyed it.

I'd like you all to ponder one point about this unique event of ours. Out of the several thousand spectators that came to Lake George and witnessed the Historic races this weekend, I am willing to bet that very few had any clue to how rare an event like this is. They might have just stumbled onto our event by chance, but they were witnessing a spectacle that is not done anywhere else in North America. Think about that.

I'd like to thank all those who came out and participated in our second Historic Ice racing event. The driving was squeaky clean and the comeraderie was second to none. With the snow capped Mount Prospect in the backround, the skydivers landing on the lake, the hot air ballon rides, the steamed hot dogs, and ideal weather conditions, Lake George was the ultimate place to have such a fantastic event like this. And with A.M.E.C.'s help, you guys put on one hell of a show!

Thanks everyone,

Michael Kamm
