I recently came across dash plaques that indicate AMEC- SMMC held two events at Mt. Cathalia in 1973. One in July and an other in Sept.

Mike Kamm:

I see that you have my 1968 flyer. I have found one more thing related to the Ellenville Hill Climb--the flyer for the 1971 event. I don't see how to attach the file(a JPG) using the reply function on this message board but if you can give me your email address I'll send you the file.

Hello Ken, and welcome to our message board. emoticon

That's great news, I've sent you a message with my email address in it. I'd be happy to post the 1971 Ellenville Hill Climb flyer jpeg for everyone to enjoy. Much appreciated!

Here is the 1971 Ellenville Hill Climb flyer courtesy of Ken Harris. If it was the 15th annual in 1971, that means this event started way back in 1956. Wow!

Thanks Ken!

Great News: There will be another driving tour [and luncheon] up this famous hill and through the surrounding mountain areas on October 13th, 2007!

You do not need a historic car to join us this time. Full details HERE.

Hey Jon thanks for the post and the link to the great pics! Also, thanks for taking the time to add the captions with them. That makes them much more enjoyable to view.

Jamie and I had a great time on this tour. Bruce Turk did a great job setting it up with help from some others. The roads and weather were fantastic.

We drove our newly acquired Citroen SM road warrior in the "fast group" and they were really booking along not a lot of time for the sight seeing part. Even got my brakes to fade on one long down hill that the organizers said "are your brakes still good" on the route paperwork.
There was a great bunch of AMEC members there and we ended up at a neat lunch spot in New Paltz the Gilded Otter. I have a group AMEC photo on the camera and will try and upload it soon. In the meantime check out the photos already posted in the above post with 2 different slide shows they captured the event well!

Excellent pictures, thanks Dave! Bruce Turk would also like to thank all of the A.M.E.C. people who attended this wonderfully enjoyable event. He said that our members really added to the fun factor!
