84JR Bicknell Sportsman

We headed north to the Fulton Speedway last night with cloudy skies and cool temps. We did get in hot laps and the only feature of the night before the rains came down.
Claude Jr brought the car home in one piece while finishing in fifth place in the ROOKIE Crate Motor Sportsman Division. We'll stay in the rookie division for a while and get the "Laps" in and figure the car and the track out before we turn him to the wolves!!!
He had "Butterflies" for the first time ever before the feature....,as soon as the green flag dropped they must have went away as he was in second place until a caution flew. These "Spec" crate motors are cool because everyone has the same horsepower. On the restart he got hung out to the outside and brought it through the checkers in fifth.
We were off on the gear....,we need to put more gear in the car,we're going to change that for next week and have back at it.

Week 2- May 10th at Fulton Speedway

Home early tonight...it's only 12:45 AM!!!
The feature in the Sportsman went pretty well tonight. We had put some more "GEAR" in the car after being quite away's off last week. Claude Jr and the car looked much better in HOT LAPS.
In the feature he jumped right on it to take the lead and lead the first seven laps!!! Thought we were going to get our first feature win in only his second run in the car. He did get passed, but only by one car and brought it through the checkered flag in second place. He will stay in the "Rookie" division for a while longer and get the much needed seat time, and we'll get the car as good as we can get it over the next few weeks. It sure takes a "TEAM" to keep a dirt modified going,we're very fortunate to have the Paul Carey crew taking care of the car with us,we even have Pauls crew chief,Mark Hale, setting the car up during the week and coming to the track with us to make sure everyting goes smooth. They are a top shelf crew, and Paul,a former Utica-Rome Speedway Sportsman champion is mentoring Claude Jr on all the ways to get her to the front and keep it there.
More info and results can be found on the Fulton website at www.fultonspeedway.com
Here are the results from tonights racing action.

 Rookie Crate Sportsman

Rookie Crate Sportsman Feature finish – Mark Olmstead Jr., Claude Hutchings Jr, John Wilber, Katelyn Kane, Chris Pullen, Justin Porter, Andrew Ferguson, Doug Cook, Shannon Jones

We were surprised to see AMEC Members Matt Dawson and Zak Petrie in attendance tonight. They were both driving in the ENDURO race. We all had a chance to visit for a while. Matt finished a very strong third place tonight, congratulations Matt. I didn't get to talk to Zak after the enduro so I don't know how he finished.

good job JR! good luck rest of the season. too bad you couldnt put a turbo saab motor in those and have it the same horse power as those v8's. that would be awesome.

The rain god's said "Let there be racing" this week at the Fulton Speedway. Although the track was a little messy from rain earlier in the day, and he was testing out a new gear set up Claude Jr was able to get the second fastest time in the hot laps. With his car looking like he just drove through the marsh, Claude Jr was able to stay with lead pack and get a 4th place finish in this weeks feature race.

"Lets hope that mother nature lets next week go off without a hitch!"

With Claude Jr and That Salisbury Chevrolet Crate Motor I think you will be in good shape. Put some gear to that thing..Nice to see that Claude Jr is doing well. Keep up the good work. The guys are still talking about you putting that crate motor in the back of that Saab 900. You had to be their to believe it. Hope all is well.

84JR Sportsman Leading the Points!!!

With a totally different set-up in the chassis and consistent top fives Claude Jr is now the point leader just 4 weeks into the season in the Rookie Crate Motor Sportsman division at the Fulton Speedway.
He started the feature in the fifth row last night and pulled off a 3rd place finish, moving him into the lead in points in the division. The new set-up in the car was a great help,Side-bite was awesome!!! This makes him the point leader in both cars at both tracks....Awesome!!!
Here are the results from last nights 15 lap feature.

E&V Energy Rookie Crate Sportsman Feature (15L) – John Wilbur, Doug Cook, Claude Hutchings Jr, Scott Fowler, Chris Pullen, Andrew Ferguson, Shannon Jones, Katelyn Kane, Sam Parkhurst (DNF), Dan Hill (DNF)
