Sad News ice racer Passes
A new friend of all us suddenly passed away Saturday afternoon. Chris P new icer and owner of the blue #31D Acura drowned Saturday afternoon while boating on Sacandaga Lake. It was found later that he had an undiagnosed heart problem.
In a Saturday incident, Christian Petrocine, 30, of Westerlo, drowned about 3:30 p.m. while attempting to swim from a boat to Beacon Island, a distance of about 100 feet. Beacon Island is located just off Kunkel Point in Mayfield.
A boater observed Petrocine in distress and was able to pull him from about seven feet of water. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. Meybaum said Petrocine may have been submerged from five to 10 minutes.
He was also taken to the Gloversville hospital, where he was pronounced dead, state police said.
The wake is today from 3-8 in Delmar at (Applebees?) the burial is tomarrow.
I think Chris was 30 years old. He was full of energy and really excited about ice racing this comming year.
Please say a prayer for our lost comrad and friend.
Darryl

Thanks for posting that Darryl.
Also in today’s Schenectady Gazette newspaper Colin Taylor AMEC president from late 60's passed away, he was 65. He got up and talked at AMEC's 50th anniversary party in 2004.

This is sad news indeed! Thanks for bringing this to our attention Darryl. I only briefly met Christian last season and I do remember his blue Acura D classer. It remember thinking what a great thing it was to see a new enthusiastic Menard class racer on board. Christian will be missed and our condolences go out to his family.

Re: Sad News ice racer Passes
This is for sure a sad moment. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends. That is way too young to leave this life.
Life is way too short to get everything done you want to accomplish as it is,the older one gets the more you'll realize this.
I lost a daughter a few years back,it is not easy to cope with.
Just count your blessings everyday that you wake up and the sun is shining and the birds are singing.
