Re: AMEC Autocross at Albany Saratoga Speedway November 7th or 8th
Speaking of Jim's, I just got off of the phone with Jim Bishop, of MoHud Rally fame and he recalls running his 1100 cc powered 1972 Fiat 128 at our events in the middle 70's. He said he enjoyed the A.M.E.C. Albany Saratoga autocrosses very much because our rules were more open [than the SCCA's] and he could remove his seats and other things to lighten his car up a bit. He said with only 67 h.p. he needed every advantage he could get. To balanace the handling of the car he used aftermarket sway bars with very wide tires up front and skinny ones in the rear. He said it would pick up the inside rear tire in a corner.

That would be a sight to see. My car is the oppisite at this point, it likes all the seats filled with 200# folks to hold it down in the turns so you can use more of what it can put down!
Jim Bishop. He wouldn't have grown up in Hudson Falls would he? I graduated in '77 with a Jim Bishop, small world if it is him.

Re: AMEC Autocross at Albany Saratoga Speedway November 7th or 8th
Hey all, just getting a chance to read the e-mail on this.
Would there be any safety concerns re: a kart running at this course? I just got a 125 Rotax-powered racing kart, and it could be fun to run it here.
I'm primarily concerned about proximity to the track walls, etc.

The course will be designed so as the keep the "vehicles" from having any problem with the wall.
Unofficially, I believe your kart should be able to run.

Re: AMEC Autocross at Albany Saratoga Speedway November 7th or 8th
Great, thanks. Who could give me the "official" okay?
Is there a layout decided at this point? Curious what the course will look like -- is it basically the oval with some chicanes/gates, or something else?

No, this Jim Bishop graduated in '64. Jim I've added you to the driver's roster on page 1. What is your last name please?
