Re: Boy it's quiet !
I am flying my pigeons. I have two capuchine/monk mark indian fantails just hatched. I am watching their quality to see if they will be good to carry on monk marks to some indian fantasy's.

Matt that sounds like a fun breeding project ! We're really enjoying our Homer loft this year . The whites are flying all day now and playing ,makes me feel like a kid all over again wishing I was bird so I could soar like that !
Alan as for you , never mind !

Re: Boy it's quiet !
Just going through my breeding season. Ready to break up some pairs and thankful that hasn't gotten unbearable hot yet. I've been getting a few offers to judge a few shows but have had to turn them down as one is during the fair and another is while the Pageant is going on.

Re: Boy it's quiet !
I'm thinking that anyone that's not on eggs by the end of the month will be separated. I've had an outstanding year with the Fantasy's and Mini's. I ended up using my Parlors mostly as fosters so didn't gain much ground there. Work has been extra hectic. Right now about all I do with my birds is feed and water and hope they're OK. I had one wrangler get drug and is out with multible broken bones, scrapes and bruises, and another have a horse fall with him and has 14 broken bones in his foot. They should be back by fall and I hope to still make the pageant.

Re: Boy it's quiet !
Wow you guys have a rough & tuff job Steve . Were they younger wranglers or was it just not their day ?
I'm still dreaming of the pageant , not looking good with the rise of gas prices though .
My spring is just begining with most of my breeds ,except Gads. But I still want a few more from my Gads.
The girls pretty much gave up on ETs , KC went with white Homers ,she likes how easy it is to breed them ! Plus we really love having them fly all day around here . We keep seeing a flock of 100, in our imagination ! I'm not sure if my roof could handle that much poop though ! As for Ash ,she keeps picking breeds that are notorious for being hard breeders .
Gary what are you guys sitting at for temps ? I know it dropped since our last meeting .After that day I was happy to be going home to cooler weather , little did I know we would have a week here almost hitting 100 . The temps dropped since , but the wind has been non stop .

Re: Boy it's quiet !
We just had a week in the 90's and now we're in the low 100's. It could be worse and it's still dry enough to have the evaporative cooler doing a good job.

Checked out the sqeakers today, they have pinfeathers on their feet! Yay. My particular indian fantails are early stage monk mark "project" birds, so I am hoping what ever breed they used as an outcross will help me out. ...maybe they used a monk marked saint lol....

Re: Boy it's quiet !
Matt- A Saint would be helpful , aye ! We have 1 Fantasy left in the lofts , it'll actually be used for something else though .
Gary we're getting ready to set up the awning for shade for this weekend's meeting . Have to get it done today as my big helpers will be leaving for their mission trip tonight.I hope it'll last till Sunday , the wind has yet to let up some . So, we all may be squished into the garage , if it blows away .
