Slow down between zones?
This may sound silly but I just did a mission to Rotterdam in about 2 seconds!
I saw no Germans the whole way and once I pressed the Take Off button, all I saw was the Exit Mission button appear!
That was not satisfying..<GRIN>
Course I could go back thru the text to see what happened.
How about a slight pause between zones to process what is going on. Its a mind thing!

Re: Slow down between zones?
I've done that before. Tends to happen more frequently with Lancasters due to them having less opposition. I could probably stick something in where there is a delay for zones with no opposition.
What does everyone else think?
Any opinion on seconds?
(More than five would be too many ...)

Re: Slow down between zones?
Maybe an option before the game starts to set a delay between zones...
Slow - 3-4 seconds
Medium 2-3 seconds
Fast 1-2 seconds
Wouldn't know how difficult it would be to program.

Re: Slow down between zones?
I haven't had a chance to do any work the last few weeks. I am going to make this my weekend project. I am thinking three settings: None (0 second delay), fast (1.5 sec) and slow (4 sec), only being applied in zones where there is no user interaction. (A required user response is what otherwise causes the program to pause.)

Re: Slow down between zones?
I'm actually going to do this instead. It looks good, and the delay is reasonable and readable: There will actually be a delay after each write to the Mission Log. Each line in the log is one write. Thus the period of delay is rather small: .15 secs for "fast" and .40 secs for "slow". Since I have also finally figured out how to get the log to automatically scroll to the bottom, the effect is much smoother.

Re: Slow down between zones?
I have two demos up at http://prestonm.com/military/B17QotS/doc/fast.avi and http://prestonm.com/military/B17QotS/doc/slow.avi
The fast demo has a .15 second delay after each line print; the slow demo has a .30 second delay after each line print. There is also a "no delay" option, which is what you are used to. Let me know if the speeds need tweaking ...

Re: Slow down between zones?
I just thought of an even better idea: Rather than having a couple of buttons to click on to select speed, have a box where you can enter the "speed factor" you want, say with limits from 0-10 (.00 seconds to 1.00 seconds)

Preston:
Good idea...I liked the "slow speed". I could read it as it played out.
