Filtering on airman maintenance screen
A clickable "filter" check box next to the crew position button on the aiman maintenance screen would make it easier to see at a glance which crewmen I have already set up for a particular position but not yet assigned.
For instance, selecting "engineer" and checking the adjacent box on the airman maintenance screen would display only the names of those crewmen holding engineer status.
As my roster of ready reserves continues to grow this would speed up selection of replacements for KIA and wounded crewmen between missions.

Re: Filtering on airman maintenance screen
If I was starting today, I would probably change the maintenance interface to a spreadsheet look. (One spreadsheet per tab.) That way you could see and update multiple records at a time, which I think would greatly lessen the need for filtering. It would also give the data an easier look. (At least technical/math types like the look of spreadsheets. ) A spreadsheet would also allow you to sort ascending/descening by column to do the grouping you mention.
I may still implement a spreadsheet look in a future release, maybe when I do .Net port, maybe after ...
