Computer Crash

About five weeks ago, my computer crashed.

Turns out it is not the hard drive (thankfully), but rather the motherboard. Since the controller is on the mother board, the hard drive won't function. (Duh. :-)

I don't have a replacement -- I am typing this from my work PC -- so I am not sure how much more, if any development I will be doing on the emulator. Odds are good I will dive off the edge without a safety net into the world of Linux.

FYI ...

Re: Computer Crash

I finally got around to ordering a new PC last weekend. I should have it my hands in about another week. It will take me awhile to find my way around it though, because it is a pure Linux box. (Not a dual boot with XP.) I am quitting Microsoft, cold turkey. However! While it may seem this means no more B17QotS emulator development due to not having VB on Linux (except maybe using the Wine Windows emualtor), that may not be the case. While Microsoft is still the C# (CSharp) proponent, it is an ECMA/ISO standard, and there are Linux tools (Mono) to develop/run C# applications under Linux. Thus, a C# application written in Linux/Mono should run under Windows/.Net. (Or even under MacOS.) Or something like that.

So, this is a roundabout way of saying I may yet return to working on / porting the emulator.

Re: Computer Crash

I've had to send my PC back (twice) due to video problems. Hopefully everything will soon be straightened out ...

Blimey your not having much luck.

All I can say is I hope you do decide to re visit the emulator one day.

Im so impressed with it.

Have you seen the game Wings Over France by roogames?

A similar appeal as your emulator.

Better graphics though! :-) Looks interesting, but I've got a Linux box and they appear to be Windows programs (*.exe) ...
