A good Old Fashion Hop-Off
I just conducted a Hop-Off between the following beer and ales; Sam Adams Imperial Pilsner, Dogfish 90 Minute IPA, and Dogfish 60 Minute IPA.
The Sam Adams claims to be an intense hop experience and it is. It's probably the most bittered beer I've ever had and a fairly strong malt content. The 90 Min Dogfish is VERY close to the Sam but it is slightly more floral in aroma and slightly less bitter. The maltyness is nearly identical. The 60 Min Dogfish is still a bit less bitter than the 90 Min and Sam's and the malt content is lighter. The floral hop bouquet is very prominent. I've brewed plenty of beer in my time and for me, the most pleasurable experience is the smell of fresh hops crushed and rubbed into my hands. I would sniff my hands for hours after that.
They say that taste is 90% in the nose, so my pick among the three is the 60 Minute Dogfish IPA. I prefer it in the bottle so that the aroma doesn't escape and is concentrated right next to the ole schnozola. I think this is the last IPA I will ever need.

Re: is the bar open?
I tried the Hallertau Imperial. Probably a little too hoppy for me. I like darker ales and bocks.

I'm glad someone decided to take the bullet on that one. It's a shame to ruin a beer. Better him than me, I always say.

Hope you don't mind me joining you for a drink guy's. I'll have a pint of lager, Sam Adams if you have it, and a packet of crisps please.
Sorry, don't like Gunness.

Re: is the bar open?
Hello there.
I'm Morwen from Anything Goes. Thought I'd drop by and see what my friends Cal and Skokey were doing here. This looks like a good place to come for a drink. Have any of you heard of Castle, Lion and Windhoek Lager? Those are some of the beers that we drink in South Africa.
I came to beer a little late in life but I must admit on a hot summer's day, sitting around the bar-b-que with a juicy steak, there is nothing quite like a Windhoek Lager to wash it down. I have to have the Lite but it is still pretty good.
If any of you feel like sharing a joke and having a friendly chat about just about anything, please come on over to our board, just click on the logo, and you will be teleported straight into our welcome lounge. Thanks for letting me in to say 'hi'.

WE lost tonight at the football and I need a drink. Set 'em up Joe, and make it doubles.
