Booze

I just inherited 2 bottles of vodka -- don't have a clue as to what to do with them. I don't have any Kahlua . . . what should I get to go with my vodka?

Well now I think I may be able to help you with your "problem". Drop by 1 Cozy Cabin, Rt28A, Alton Bay this Sunday and I will be only too happy to receive said bottles and thus remove any worries you have about what to do with them. :p But more seriously ....

What to get to go with your vodka ... first thing I'd say is ice! There after, and assuming you need more, I'd ask what do you have on hand ... or are you looking to make a trip to the store ? You might already have tonic water for vodka and tonics or orange juice for Screwdrivers or cranberry and grapefruit juices for Sea Breezes. You can get triple sec and lime juice for Kamikazees or Kahluha for Black Russians or add Baileys for Mudslides (a good substitute is Rileys which has a somewhat hazelnut flavor to it). Combine the lime and cranberry juices with the triple sec and you have the ever popular Cosmopolitan. Another favorite was/is Sex on the peach ... err ... Beach but you'll need peach schnapps, grapefruit and cranberry juices. There are mebbe 100 variations on this but I think the Chambord and Amaretto ones work best. Now that I mention it a touch of Amaretto in a Black Russian works well too (don't know if that has a name).

For more than I could ever tell you (or even know) try this place ....

ps - Anyone else think that all of mcdude's forums have overloaded the runboard.com server ?

Vodka goes with everything. Cranberry juice=Capecodder. Experiment. Typically it has little taste on its own.

Vodka is my Favorite!

....with lots of ice and a splash (or two) of tonic water. Lime is optional. ....or the tonic water with the lime already mixed in is the best!
=D

UneValkyrie: How did you manage to "inherit" not one, but TWO bottles of vodka?

Vodka and Tang.
Vodka and lemon aid-
take some powdered lemonaid and some powdered Tang, mix a pitcher and add the vodka-
Get a gallon Cranberry juice- pour off half of it into another container-
add 1 qt vodka- shake and try it- add more cranberry juice from the other container untill right.
Pour Vodka into a martini glass add an olive and "pretend" you have a martini...
Use for antifreeze in an inboard sailboat engine(thanks dad).
Add to windshield washer fluid- the results on the highway could be funny- Wait for a cop to be behind you-use caution be sober when he pulls you over.
Window deicer? maybe not-
Add one oz to 16 gallons of gasoline as injector cleaner- tell your neihbor it works great and give him the vodka.
Open bottle take a drink to make sure it's ok- then start to make a cake using as much vodka in the cake as possible- and call it vodka cake- but this can be done just by sharing the bottle.
Drain cleaner?
Toilet tank cleaner?
Add to laundry instead of softener and then explain to everyone your not a raging alcoholic- REALLY- you just messed up?
OK what brand is it? before I go any further... :roar:

Almost forgot- get some Kahlua and enjoy it.

Lots of interesting suggestions -- triple sec and lime juice for Kamikazees sounds like a possibility.

"powdered lemonaid and some powdered Tang, mix a pitcher and add the vodka" -- this one I've had tho not for a long long time -- backpackers favorite!

My problem is I can't quite see the point of drinking alchol that doesn't have any flavor of it's own.

Oh S*** -- I went to look at the brand and now I see it is GIN, not vodka. Heublein is the brand. What the heck, there's only one thing you can do to gin, right? Does that mean I have to wait until summer?

I inherited two bottles from a lady who died and needed her garage cleaned out.

So it's Gin you say ... well sorry but I can't help you. I'm told that Gin & Tonic is the way to go. I'm also told that I should know this from experience but somehow I can get no neurons to fire when the subject of Gin comes up. Indeed even now, reading about Gin, I am unable to form, let alone retain any memory, no matter how short a term it might be, on the topic of ... what ... oh yes ... Gin. I'm sure that not longer than 5 minutes ago I read some interesting Gin drinks on the WWW and yet now, typing this, I can recall nothing ! I'm told this has something to do with some chemical imbalance dealing with Gin some decades ago but alas I don't remember a thing. emoticon Now if only I could do the same thing re: Tequila but to my horror I recall 68.91 % of that night. Perhaps early Alzheimer's may yet save my peace of mind .... ;)
