CLASSIC BOAT FOR SALE
available in Alton Bay on E-Bay. I love this boat. I'm so tempted. If I only had a garage!
quote: Vehicle Description
Up for bid is a 1963 16’ Grady White Runabout. This boat has a wood lap strake hull with the famous Grady White flared bow. The deck and gunnels are marine grade mahogany plywood with a teak veneer, replaced in 2001. Windshield glass was replaced in 2002. The frame of the canvas cover was replaced with stainless steel in 2003. Last full wood restoration occurred in 2002. Since then other repairs have been made: Coats of marine polyurethane were last applied in the fall of 2004; Seats were replaced in the spring of 2005, but we fitted them to the mahogany bases to keep the antique look. Rub rail was also replaced in the spring of 2005.
Her structural integrity remains sound.
The slider and pull tab of the zipper on the stern piece of the canvas top needs to be replaced, but the canvas as a whole, including the zipper is in great condition.
The motor is a 1983 70 HP Evinrude. It runs great and was used as recently as last October, 2005. The year of the motor does not reflect its usage. It has been mostly a weekend, day-trip fishing and fun boat.
The trailer is a 1966 Little Dude, tilt frame, 1 axle in good-average condition. A little rust, but tires are fine, the lights work, the trailer is registered and the boat is ready to tow.
I am selling it primarily because I do not have a permanent storage location for it. It has been stored indoors every winter, save a couple. My grandfather, my father, and I have done almost all restorations to it over her life, and we have cared for it with our hearts.
The buyer of “Lucky Seven” should be willing to keep in touch with me regarding her condition and experiences, solely for sentimental reasons.
I requested information from Grady White, which shows the specs and original brochure published in 1963.
The boat is located in Alton Bay, NH. Inspection of boat is welcome by appointment. THE BOAT IS SOLD AS-IS, and includes trailer, boat, motor, full canvas, and other accessories.

Re: CLASSIC BOAT FOR SALE
Nice !
I love stuff like this- but I am bad when it comes to upkeep of a wooden hull.
My 16 foot 1933 era canoe is testimoney to that fact.
Well that and I too do not have a garage or dry storage for such a nice piece of work.

Re: CLASSIC BOAT FOR SALE
Wow! Many years ago I had a Grady White with that hull and a Volo Penta sterndrive. Bought it used and was cleaning it up. Had just redone most of the varnish. I have a corner lot and the boat was in the back yard. Came home one evening and found my back yard full of police cars, tow truck and a strange car where my boat should be. Seems a little old lady was driving her sister home and sister said "turn here", meaning at the corner. Little old lady turned right into my yard and broadsided the boat splitting the ribs and knocking it off the trailer. Driver not insured. It wasn't a pretty sight watching a grown man cry!
