HOW TO REGISTER

(MAY 9th - I've removed the password requirement. Anyone may post a message after registering)

April 24, 2006 - This Forum is now PASSWORD-PROTECTED in the hopes of eliminating trolls from trashing it!...not to discourage people from participating. All are welcome as long as your intent is NOT to cause trouble. The very simple registration process (most fields are optional) makes it easier for the administrator to control the forum and to ban unwanted intruders. If you have any questions please contact the Belknap Lakes Webmaster. Thanks and ENJOY!!! I will need to send you the password before you will be able to post. The account where your e-mail is received is not checked often. To speed up your registration send an e-mail to the Belknap Lakes Webmaster reminding me to check the e-mail! McD
(or simply drop a note to mcdude by clicking any of the CONTACT WEBMASTER spots on belknaplakes.com and the password will be sent....be sure to tell me what name you would like to post under)

PLEASE CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OR ANYONE CAN SIGN IN AS YOU USING THIS ORIGINAL PASSWORD
  ciao cool
TO DO THIS, CLICK ON CONTROL PANEL and simply enter a new password!

Not sure if I know what the difference is hairy I thought we were "registered" and "passworded" before now. I note that any non-registered user can still read the forums, which I say is a good thing. Otherwise nobody would know whether they wanted to join/register or not.

The Knife: Only new people have to register and before they can post I have to send them a password. This is because the Wolfeboro Off-Line forum was trashed over the week-end. Someone signed on multiple times and created multiple user names. Smited everyone so that now they have VERY negative karma and generally posted some very unpleasant things. The admin had to ban all the multiple users and delete all the posts. It was very messy. Thought we would avoid that over here. Hope it doesn't put people off who may want to sign up. McD

Re: HOW TO REGISTER

Well so far so good I guess. Deepsycle has been the only person to try and register, and even though he was already registered on runboard he still needed a password for Belknap Lakes. I have encouraged a few others to sign up and have left instructions on how to contact me for the password on the main ;age and under tech support. No one has tried yet but I guess the forum is password / troll protected which is a good thing!!

What I've noticed since I "installed" runboard is a lot of lurkers. Since I have it set for who is online last 60 mins ...often I can see that unregistered visitors are on-line on the forum checking things out. That's a good thing. I'll keep you posted!

May 9th - I've removed the password requirement. I don't think this forum is in imminent danger of a troll trashing it since so few people visit here anyway! So if anyone is reading this....post something! It's been lonely over here! McD

Re: HOW TO REGISTER

I'm still here. I have a nice vacation coming. I'm quitting my job on Friday and taking the rest of May off. In the past 6 months, the company I work for has turned to total ****. New owner, bad management, mass defections. There will be only 1 person left after I'm gone that still knows how this business operates. My manager opened a new branch of one of our competitors and I am going to join him. On May 26th I'll be up in Wolfeboro to attend the Righteous TV Film Festival at Kingswood. The show is at 7:00 if anyone is interested.

Well I'd guess pretty much any forum will get it's share of internet trolls ... bound to happen at some point. Thing is once identified as such, don't feed them. Usually they get bored with the inattention and go away in search of more active sites. Should it ever get bad here, you can always re-institute p-words.

ps - Skokey: Having work get so bad you need to quit sure bites but then again ... having another job lined up with known management and being able to take a month off ... right now that sounds pretty good to me. Whack

Today was quite a show. The CEO, the COO, the CFO and the New England region VP came to visit to give us a pep talk. I was hoping to get out of there right away after the meeting but the COO cornered me to beg me to stay. He offered me a month off with pay and work at home and I still turned him down. I was impressed though, that they finally admitted serious management problems and they appologized about the previous management team. It's funny now that the new guys are now trying to put things back the way they were, But I think it's a little too late. Time will tell, but I think I will be better off with my old boss.
