Sunset and Hills Photos from Avery Hill by dcr
My buddy dcr was hiking recently up on Avery Hill and captured these beautiful photos of Sunset Lake and Hills Pond. I've included his descriptions with each photo.
A view to the NW from Avery Hill across Hills Pond. A small fragment of Sunset Lake is seen at the far left. Above it, on the horizon, is Grant Hill, and somewhat to its right is the more peaked summit of Durrell Mt.

Looking to the NW across Hills Pond from Avery Hill in Alton. The hike up the west side of the mountain from the Frohock Brook Rd is short, but steep.
SUNSET LAKE
This lake is at the southernmost extreme of the Belknap Range. About 3/4 of it is in Alton, and 1/4 is in Gilmanton. Part of Crystal Lake can be seen at the left, and part of Hills Pond is seen at the right.
