Emperor's Champion


Hey guys, I've just been working on an Emporer's Champion in my spare time. I based it on the origonal limited edition model, tell me what you think.

I'd be happy to help you guys out in the way of modelling, texturing and animating characters for this mod.

I've taken this guy as low as 1960 triangles but that is for use with a normal map which adds all the extra detail.

The version I have for use in DOW is 2536 tris which is still relatively low for a hero or any unit for that matter.

That is absaloutly fantastic man!!!! Im incredibly impressed! You don't know how happy I am to see a willing modeller here. Stranger has very kindly donated the Land Raider Crusader model, which still needs texturing an animating. If you are willing, then welcome aboard our mod team!!!!

Yeah, well, 2500 tris is small, normal marine without any 'bling' weights that much. But as the champion needs more stuff modeled, this limit makes him a bit blocky IMHO... Do you think you could add 600-800 tris atop of what you already have here? It's a hero after all...

Cheers guys. Yeah in regards to that extra 600-800 tris it'd be hard to add to the base mesh considering I've already unwrapped him, though someone did post a picture of an EC with a massive, sweet looking backpack, i could perhaps add this. Also having only just downloaded the mod tools I noticed their modelling is very unrestricted, all their models are in pieces and they dont seem to worry nearly as much about quads as I do, so i can throw extra pieces on no worries.

Dude that looks sweet! The only problem i have is i think the armpads look a bit rounded! Otherwise.......j..o..i..n.......u....s.... emoticon

Btw. Dow doesnt like bump mapping.

I see what you mean about the armpads, I think I've fixed em up.

Also I realise DOW doesn't support bumpmaps, I just made that for the learning experience.

I just rigged this guy up today, now for some animations!
