Its the collective consciousness of the highest synapse creature. Those on the battle field (like the hive tyrant) only act as relays for them.

ok so any way im gonna go off my origial topic... dont see why not emoticon

all this research online i do shure makes me want to start a minature collection of my own... omg some of the sculptures are drek emoticon

how hard is it to get started in the tt game .. can i just build an army and start compeating? or is their some catch... i would like to avoid buying a lot of codex's (i use to end up being the only one among all the nerds with any rules whene i ran d&d games{more than my fair share i did just abought it all... u name i probly masterd it} and all that crap... and dam it u nerds ar fn greedy wen it comes to carecter building {in any wargame}, and i just ended up wasting alot {like $1,000's} of money on it all by the time i got old enough to work.... then i wasted more...
needles to say i got fed up with having to do all the damn rules and i ended up quiting it alltogether... and that was a sad day. (the morel is "LET YOUR GM'S PLAY TOO!!! emoticon

)
but i really think i wold like to start an army... none off my freinds play online games or paint ball and i need a new hobby now emoticon

Never said anything about Hive tyrants. By 'Bigger synapse creatures', I meant the Tyranid Norn Queens (or bio-space-docks) and such. And it couldn't be collective, if there would be only one of 'um. And wouldn't it be difficult for it to relay its will to the rest? Because, as we know, the bulk of tyranids are not anywhere near out galaxy.

The tricky part here is that you have to actualy assemble and paint your minis and then find a grup of players that don't stink of cheddar from a mile away (I had some bad experiance, as you can already tell- DE army with 20-odd brightlances on 1500pts anybody?). Now, the glueing is simple, the other two are not. As far as money go, it doesn't require you to buy every dex out there, one (or two in case of some armies) is sufficient. It's also handy to own a rulebook (tho I'd usied a store one to learn the rules, more money for me emoticon

). Then, it would be handy to get at least some basic acrylics and a primer. But all that's just for future reference emoticon

. Right now find a store, say you wanna join and play a couple of proxied games to get accustomed with the rules, mate emoticon

Yeah, getting into TT isn't too hard. So long as you go to a store, and ask for help. The first purchase you should buy is the codex (normally around 10-12 pounds, not sure about $), a troop box (eg tactical marines squad) and a small commander. You should be fine.

As for choosing a race to collect, thats easy! Black Templars!!! emoticon

as for wat army i was gonna start... well bt yes of course but this was wat i was planning to buy

for my commander i want to get High Marshal Alexander (im into the whole conquest against orcz thing lol emoticon

)

then i will want Vengance of course to match him..(every body does no?)

and to cap it all off...... i want Bother-Chaplain Abraham Ortelius ...

now im not shure bout the filler's thats were im such a newb... emoticon

but i do have some inclanations....2 sm squads with sergents and apoths, 1 assault squad, and then i get a little confused....how do tanks and termies and such fit in?

i can me spending mabee 500$ in a sitting on this after paint and all (even a spray gun, my da useto make t-shirts, hes got spares..so ill save a little money on that)...and more than likely a desk-moutable magnifying glass/w light (that might be expensive)

suggestions on wat codexes to buy? (the bt one obviously emoticon

) and yea stranger ull have to help me along twords a proxy game(this is my first pc game ive done online...im useto ps2 online) but im up!! i will need to find out how unit building works... but im so down emoticon

Proxy means 'stand-in' in this context. You borrow some figs from an established gamer and run a few games disregarding the fact that your terminator squad consists of totaly non-terminator models.
So I can't help you with this, unless you live somewhere real close emoticon

And better don't invest so much money on one go, not before you decide that BTs are your thing. You could just realize that you prefer a shooty army and go for tau for example, and there goes all your money spent on the marine minis.

Those characters you posted me a link to and are talking about in your posts aren't official characters. You cannot buy them in shops. They are conversions, models 'modified' to their owners standards. So if you want those characters, you will have to make them yourself. Try starting simpler than that, with the models that GW provides. Heres a link to their BT model range:

Unfortunatly all of it is in Epic scale, so of no use to a 28mm wargamer, and/or not in sale since early nineties, sorry emoticon
