The Ion 2
Well there has been a lot of hype about this long awaited kite.
Firstly I’ll tell you what I know.
Sizes: 6m, 8.5m, 10.5m, 12.5m, 14.5m, 16.5m
The kite is the all new interchangeable hybrid kite from flexifoil.
Hybrid 4-line for freeride and wave riding - delivering stability and depower
or 5-line C shape for massive freestyle and wake performance.
When I had the kite it was set up with the 5th line, the wind was marginal and the shore dump was massive, so this will be short.
Firstly the bag is better than last years, a lot bigger and it looks indestructible.
Setting the kite up is so easy, if you like one pump this kite must have one of the best one pump systems on the market.
Flexi have added extra padding around the 1 pump tubes to protect them from wear and tear as these were prone to splitting on last years ones.
Kite construction
The ion 1 was a pretty solid kite, and this has been beefed up even more, there is so much protection on this kite, and the stitching is 100% spot on, you can tell this kite has been built to last.
There are extra thick patches at all attachment points, and kite has easy to replace batons on the trailing edge to stop the flapping.
I think you really need to look at this kite yourself to understand how much has gone into it.
Setting up the bar was as easy as could get, if you could not rig this kite then you shouldn’t have a kite.
In the air the Kite looked really nice, felt very stable, although I had some problems with the 5th line, it didn’t really effect the stability.
I comment on how the kite flew as I was not really able to access it, due to shore dump trying to kill me.
Packing down.
Is the time when I hate one pumps, but it was easy than packing down a Ion or a Atom due to the fact that Flexi have made the bag bigger.
If I get to go on this kite again, then I will edit this post.
But Im sure frithy will post her opinion on the kite.
