Re: BCFA Dream XI?

I'd agree with most of that. Don't know who the CU players are off hand but I know they have some good players.

I think there are better strikers than Lucky in the league though. I would play Dave P (VCF Santos) rather than Lucky.

Re: BCFA Dream XI?

Would your league be able to put together a representative side?

I play in the Derby (& Nott'm) church league and am looking at ways we can make links between various church leagues around us. We're looking at either friendly matches or a tournament for league rep sides or league winners.

As an example, I hope to organise a tournament for fa cup final day, 2-3hrs 11-a-side football in the morning with a barbeque and the match on a big screen in the afternoon at a local church. Autoroute has Bristol to Derby in 2 1/2 hours, I would have thought it would be nearer 3 but if this is a problem we could arrange a friendly at a pitch between the two.

The respectful competitive nature of our games gives us a huge advantage over many secular leagues and I think this is one way we can make our leagues even better; for the fellowship of christians and as an example to non-christians.

If you think your league or anyone in it would be interested, please post on here or e-mail me 6jordy@ukonline.co.uk

Thanks, Jordan

Sounds like a great idea in principle, but a mare to organise! If someone else organised something along these lines then BUCU would jump on the bandwagon... but i think that's the sentiment of a lot of people.

Maybe a league rep XI would be better than just the champions... but who would select it?!

Re: BCFA Dream XI?

Well I'd be happy to organise the event, as for organising your own team all I can do is suggest.

The rep side would either have to be picked by some co-ordinator who knows all the teams quite well, or voted for. Over here we're looking to set-up a team with at least one player from each side (we're a small league with 11 teams). The rest made up by all the team managers voting for the best opposition players.

I like the idea of a player from each team, I think it's good to recognise some of the good players who happen to be playing for a struggling side and the 'team' would have more support if each side was represented.

Anyway, next time you speak to your league co-ordinator, mention it to him and see what he says.

Nice website by the way.

How about taking 2 players from each of the top 5 teams and 1 players from each of the bottom 5? Realistically its an end of season job, but worth exploring.

Re: BCFA Dream XI?

Well I think that the rock keeper isnt all that! The thornbury one is the voice of there defence, plus on the left back playes like a winger and causes lots of avanues out for the team.
Also there Striker is now back in full force and is now banging them in from all angles...

I would play a 4-3-3

1 - Oliver Kahn (Thorn)

2 - Berty Bassit (Thorn)
3 - J Cook (Thorn)
4 - Nathen (Thorn)
5 - Neil Perret (Christchurch)

6 - Nicky Kouvaritakis (BUCU)
7 - Tushy (Thorn)
8 - Jim Rivers (Thorn)

9 - Chris Bentley-Taylor (WW)
10- Glen McLellan (WW)
11- Mark Underdown (Thorn)

Re: BCFA Dream XI?

I like the way there are no defenders selected from the team with the tightest defence in the league. Conceeding less than a goal a game...

Take your pick from:
1 Tyler
2 Phillips
3 Foxley/Seysllewellyn
4 Cordle
5 Albers

By the way, there is a guy who kept for the rock when we played them away ages ago who is amazing. Obviously not a regular though? he wasn't there on saturday fortunately. He looked semi-pro class and so still gets my vote.

God bless,
Dan

Re: BCFA Dream XI?

The lack of Thornbury players in the first XI does concern me slightly as they appear to be following in the footsteps of the Arsenal 2003/04 invincibles.

An interesting suggestion that may even pave the way for a Thornbury XI vs 'Rest of the world XI' style exhibition match. Predictions on this result welcomed.

However Thornbury's true strength lies in the squad rotation system which has allowed them to mount a serious challenge for an unprecidented double. (Will see you in a few weeks Fil).

Signing off

An unbiased passer by.

Having 3 defenders and the keeper from a team that conceeded 5 goals in one match would concern me more...
