Champions
Congratulations to Thornbury. They're a very strong team with a team spirit unmatched in the league, and that seems to have won them the title. Possibly helped somewhat by us handing you 4 points on a plate and then beating BSXI in the penultimate week of the season, but hey!
Also seems to help to have a guy up front who scores 22 goals in a season. He's my vote for BCFA player of the season, if its not going to be awarded to a BUCU defender...
At least I have something to brag about to Kahn... only 22 goals conceeded, and 6 clean sheets in the league. The best defence and keeper in BCFA by some way!

Re: Champions
You have also got to remember that Sparky missed two months with a broken ankle, so if his season had been injury free he could definitely have beaten the 30 goal barrier.
I'm just pleased that we managed to conceed a feel more goals in the last few games to stop Khan/Fowlers bragging. Our defence did have then plan to knock in a few OG's in the last few games to bring the goals against numbers up a bit!!

Re: Champions
Cheers Dan...your men up front let you down when they needed to score! As I have said in the past the team spirit in Thornbury is great.
I do cause a lot of small disagrements however my GREAT defence have helped me almost become the best GK in the league.
I would like to comment that IF you look at the other stats...MOM awards...I'm the only GK up there.
Maybe Im a little inconsistent..who knows..well my team would!
All I know is that I have to make up for last year in the Shield final where the second WW goal was my fault.
I need to be on my game.
See you Saturday?

Re: Champions
Khan, (good keeper that he is) is actually incorrect!
VCF Santos' goalkeeper (Rob Andrews) is the highest keeper in the MVP stakes. He kept his defence out from many a scrape - and there were really quite a few.

Dan, you started off so well with your first sentence then you proceeded to spoil it all with the rest of your post!
1. Team spirit alone does not win you a title, neither does playing good football on it's own. The parameters that allneed to come together to finish top are vast.
2. I don't think the 2-1 at your place or the 2-2 at ours, which were tight games, could possibly be described as handing us 4 points on a plate!
3. Ok so you beat BSXI, but they had 17 other games which determined their final league position. It may be an old cliche, but it is absolutely true that a league table never lies. You can single out a few games, but it is what you do in the sum of 18 matches that counts.
Sad to read that you will be losing key players next season, at times your football has been nice to watch and play against.
p.s. Pauline didn't concede all of our 26 goals against!

Maybe that's cause he was the leagues busiest keeper

Re: Champions
Iain, Pauline may not have conceded all our goals but he was at fault for the other couple as he played BSX1 onside!!

So you don't think we should try it again on Saturday then?
Bear in mind we are scraping for ideas with all these lads out with the flu.
