thanks brother.

Flynn, you're getting punched, but I'll let you choose arm or leg. As it'll probably be on saturday, I suggest you go with the arm as you'll need your leg. Alternatively, you can choose face.

Either or, can't see it making much difference.

well good for his age, though his timing's a bit dodge. a lot of songs are playable with practice though danny - even you could play that if you tried enough. still, fair play to the kid.

Look at the shape of his fingers and stuff as he moves them, plus his right hand as he picks. Trust me, if he couldn't play the guitar at all, a guitarist would be able to tell straight away without the need for sound. You can usually tell on films if someone is faking playing the guitar or not (or piano for that matter), with the sole exception of Michael J Fox in Back To The Future. I was genuinely surprised to discover that he was miming Johnny Be Goode, although he did learn how to play it. The bloke who taught him it said he mimed playing the guitar better than anyone he'd seen, so I didn't feel too bad.

I never knew he actually mimed it - I knew he played guitar so thought he'd played it (I would have done if I was in his position). you've just ruined a great guitaring film moment, and there aren't many emoticon

Didn't research it, just read it somewhere.

John, if you want a film where they definitely play the guitars, try School of Rock (apart from one little obvious bit with the kid) or Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny. I have both on DVD. emoticon
