You're mugs if you think it wasn't a dive, Gerrard is a strong player (when it suits him)and if he was an honest player he would of carried on and taken a shot under pressure... can someone tell me where in football it states that a defender is not allowed to pressure an attacker and make any physcial contact??... if the fans can't even see the players are diving then football is screwed!

You know how much i hate gerrard and liverpool gooner! It was a pen though, when you are travelling at such speed, even the slightest contact can knock you off balance! I should know emoticon

And every arsenal player would have gone down, especially eboue!

Maybe, maybe not. We're only talking about this because it looked like the ref changed his mind following Gerrard speaking to him. Is that right? Why aren't people on here complaining every other week of the season about the hundreds of players trying to influence refs? The only other week it possibly happened was after the United-Chelsea game.

Whether you think he dived or not, it's up to you, but I don't see how people can criticise him saying he changed the ref's mind. If that did happen, it's the ref's fault. End of (to quote mikenailsea - whatever happened to that guy?). When you look at rugby, it's obvious that the refs have a lot more respect than they do in football. However, I honestly think the blame for that lies with refs and governing bodies, be it the FA, UEFA, FIFA, whoever the refs take their lead from.

Refs have been given authority to move a free kick forward 10 yards, which was meant to be copying rugby laws. They've done it rubbishly though. To start with, refs don't use it enough. In rugby, as soon as a player says something out of line, the ref moves his team back 10 yards. In football, it seems a player has to have a full on minute long rant before the ref will move them back 10.

Also, in rugby, once a ref has decided to move the attacking team forward 10 yards, he quickly runs forward 10 and let's the attacking team worry about getting the ball there. They can take their penalty or free kick as quickly as they want, and if the opposition then try to tackle or intefere without being back 10 yards, they're penalised again. In football, you get this ridiculous thing where the ref wastes time booking the player, then he picks up the ball himself, holds it in front of him at arms length, and does this ridiculous frog-march type thing before putting the ball down. It looks stupid.

Dissent should not be a yellow card offence except in extreme circumstances. As soon as a player disputes the ref's decision, the ref should just run forward the 10 yards and let the attacking team start play as soon as they like. It would soon ensure that defending teams didn't have any time to worry about doing anything other than defending.

...except I wouldn't of tried to excuse them for it, I wish the refs could give red cards for diving, to Arsenal players as well!.. in affect they are on occasions worse than the professional foul, Gerrard got a man sent off and a penalty awarded

Gerrard's 'dive' wasn't an obvious dive. How about we talk about Adebayor's awful dive? emoticon

I don't know why Gooner is so worried or bothered anyway. Aren't Arsenal top with a game in hand?

And another thing, Everton didn't deserve to get anything out of the game on saturday, they had one shot on target all match and they were supposed to be at home emoticon And we even scored their goal for them emoticon

I think that more likely to happen to Man Utd with that Moron Glazer and his family in the boardroom.
