Dan, I think our title race was already over. Even if we'd won last night and won our game in hand, we'd still have been 6 points behind Arsenal. They might be losing players to the ANC, but those players probably only miss about 4 Prem games, so we'd need to catch up 6 points in 4 games. Also, we still have to play Arsenal, Chelsea and United away from home. Considering our record against those 3 recently, I can't see us getting more than 1 draw from those 3 games, and probably not even that.

I gave up hope of us winning it after we lost to United.

I agree with your first sentence, I was just holding on to the last, tiny bit of hope! Plus we would have been 7 behind Arsenal not 6, so even worse.

It's strange how we were superb at home last season (15 wins, 3 draws, 1 defeat) and shocking away (9 defeats) yet this season it's the other way round. Anfield isn't a fortress anymore. 2 games that cost us big earlier this season were the home draws to Brum (for obvious reasons) and Spurs (who were awful at the time), 4 points dropped. It shouldn't come down to how we get on against the top 3, it's the smaller teams that we draw against which is costing us bigtime.

10 defeats last season and only 2 so far this season, just too many flippin' draws when we should have put the game to rest. Rafa said early this season when he left Torres out of Brum and Portsmouth games (both drew 0-0) that we need players fresh for the latter periods of the season. I said it then and I have been proved right (unfortunately), Torres may be fresh now but we are out of the title race emoticon

Partly true, but all the big teams drop points against smaller teams at some points in the season. If we want to win the league, we have to at least come out of the two games against the big 3 evens. As it is, they'll probably have taken 4, 4 and 6 points from us, to our 1, 1, 0.

If it weren't for Rob Styles, we would have beaten Chelski emoticon
