Re: Premiership thread
How about an independent view. I would say Carragher, Torres and Gerrard would get into either Chelsea or Man u but honestly I think the others would struggle.
And Dan, if you are saying one of the reasons for not challenging for the tile is Agger being out then you continue to be deluded. He is decent but 1 player making that much of a difference?? I don't think so. I think its that Liverpool really only have two outlets for goals - gerrard and Torres whereas Man U, Chelski and Arsenal have at least 3-4 and sometimes more.
Back to the drawing Board for Liverpool I am afraid.
Plus I reckon that ball did cross the line. From the side angle you could see the whole of the ball past the post.

Beano I need you to be honest now. I heard Lawro on 5live earlier saying there are only 3 players from Liverpool that United, Arsenal or Chelski would touch, everyone else from Liverpool they wouldn't touch. This annoyed me because I think there are 5/6 players that would improve all their teams.
Who would you say would be good enough at United?
Would bite your hand off for gerrard and torres to be honest. Think torres would fit perfectly into the way we play.
Carragher - not that fussed to be honest. Vidic and Ferdinand as a partnership are perfect.
Reina - Nah not really. While i dont rate van der sar that highly either, I do think reina is prone to the odd error aswell.
Mascherano - as good as he is, I definately dont think he suits the way we play. He is probably slightly better than carrick defensively but carrick has a much better eye for the killer ball going forward.
Thats an honest review for you. I genuinely cannot think of another liverpool player good enough, although 4/5 years ago I would have said Riise too.
I would be interested to know who you would take from us?

I would say that Rooney, Tevez, Vidic, Evra and Ronaldo would all make Liverpool a better side. Giggs and Scholes maybe a few years back.

Mascherano is clearly underrated then. I suppose unless you don't watch Liverpool's matches, you won't see all the work he does, not on MOTD day anyway.
Agger being out has affected us, Hyypia has had to play far too many matches, but we need another centre back (we have bought one now). Hyypia is not what he used to be. Agger is one of our 5 spinal players that need to be playing week in week out. I'm not saying that's the only reason for us not being near the top, firepower is the other major factor, we need to buy another goalscorer and an exciting, pacy winger (although Babel may become a top player for us if only Rafa would pick him!). I even think he could play up front with Torres.
We are still 2-3 players short, but we are continuing to improve season after season under Rafa. First season we finished 5th, last season we finished 3rd. The problem this season has been drawing too many games because we have lost less than Chelski and United. Last season the problem was losing too many games (10 I think), so we have improved from last season but not as quickly as we would have liked. We have turned games that we would have lost last season into draws this season, so maybe next season we'll turn them into wins?! Lets hope so, we'll certainly improve the squad in the summer but if Rafa goes (which after what has been reported today might happen) there could be big players leaving the club. I am livid with what I've heard today, I hope the Americans sell up to DIC as their leader is a Liverpool fan.

Re: Premiership thread
Interesting that nobody mentions Anderson for us. Has been an absolute revalation, had great games against gerrard and fabregas. Scholes will walk straight back into our team when he is fit and I would be amazed if it was anderson he dropped. Not bad with carrick and hargreaves on the bench

GK - no one.
Def - Evra is better than our left back options esp going forward, Arbeloa is very good and solid in defence. Rio is better than Agger but I think Vidic is about the same as Agger. You don't have a right back so I'll keep Finnan who is another solid, reliable right back.
Mid - Ronaldo, best in league (knob though).
Forwards - Rooney and Tevez, both better than Crouch, Voronin and Kuyt.
So 5 definates for me.

I would say the same for Anderson, a lot of utd fans player of the season so far. Harsh on Ronaldo though!
And as far as babel is concerned, seems an absolute joke that rafa persists on playing jokes like kewell and voronin ahead of him.

I heard Anderson being slated when he first joined but has certainly improved.
Babel has alot of attributes that would make us more pacy and threatening. Pace, power, fierce shot, he's better than Kewell.
