I'd probably go with that, although I'd prefer Vidic to Rio, who can be too casual at times, and I'm not so sure Evra would displace Riise for me. A lot of people seem to be slating him, but I think it's because he hasn't scored too many goals in the last couple of years. A defenders main job is to defend and he's been part of the best defence (along with Chelsea) in the Prem the last two seasons.

It's all very well for Lawrenson to say that only 2 or 3 Liverpool players would make the Chelsea or United side, but you can say the same the other way round. If you look at Chelsea, I'd take Cech over Reina (although that wouldn't improve us hugely, and we'd be worse off in pen shoot outs), and I'd have Terry if he could stay injury free. Both their full backs are naff, so I wouldn't have either of those. I'd have Essien from midfield, but no one else, and Drogba or Anelka as our second striker with Torres. So only 4 Chelsea players would make the Liverpool line up IMO.

Our biggest problem is probably what Eakes has hinted at, in that we rely too much on Gerrard and Torres, although I don't think it's just the goalscoring that's the problem. The fact is that no one else is really creating much for us. United are far better on the flanks than we are. Even their back up wingers like Nani are better than anyone we have. Torres has scored several goals this season that have been all his work. We need a second striker who can score plenty of goals. IMO, Crouch could do a decent job of that, but doesn't get enough starts. Kuyt was good last year, but has been shocking this year.

I hope we stick with Rafa. I was reading something last year that said Ferguson inherited a United side that had just finished 4th two seasons in a row. He first 4 finishes in the Prem were something like 9th, 13th, 5th and 9th. In that time he won a single FA Cup. Rafa has done much better than that so far, so let's keep the faith!! Benjiman, I'm talking to you here!!

Yes, really, for reasons explained as above.

Re: Premiership thread

Drogba as a second striker (when he's the best striker in the world and can do the job of 2 strikers if needed)?

Carragher over Vidic when some of you think Vidic is a better player than Rio (bearing in mind that Carragher was about 5th choice for England and has made more clumsy challenges that I've had hot dinners)?

Mascherano over all of Man Utd's Central Midfield players when Hayden Mullins was deemed to be a better player only a year ago?

Evra over Riise when Riise was made to look very average against a doomed League 2 side? In truth, unless he scores goals, which he hasn't been recently, then he's a very average player - a trait of most wide Liverpool players!

If I was born in Liverpool, I'd definitely be an Everton fan so I could sleep at night without ridiculous inflated opinions of my side.

Riise hasn't been great this year, Evra is better.
