Very good film. I reckon this film and 'Lost' could be linked. Both by J.J Abrams, I reckon the 'monster' from Lost could be the one featured in Cloverfield.
In Lost we know there is some sort of monster in the jungle (it killed the pilot in the first few episodes) but we have never seen it.
In Cloverfield, it has those little monsters that come from it, we don't have any clue that they exist on the island of Lost but I reckon they could all be underground, maybe linked to those chains that come from the ground and try to drag people under. I also reckon the monster is underground waiting to surface, maybe developing, and surfaced a couple of times, once right at the beginning when the survivors are on the beach soon after the crash and they see the trees moving and hear load 'monster' noises and the time it killed the pilot.
Maybe it couldn't leave the island because of the electronic field that was there before Charlie disabled it (R.I.P, *wipes eye*), but now the field doesn't exist the monster travels where it wants. We know things/people can leave the island because we have seen Jack, Kate and Hurley off the island.
I know this theory isn't water tight but thought it was fairly possible.

I thought it was the black smoke thing that killed the pilot, and that is the 'monster'? Did you know that the pilot who is killed is Matt Parkman from Heroes?

Don't watch Heroes.
We never saw what killed the pilot, just that it made alot of noise and injured the pilot very badly which led to death. Not sure there has been any evidence that the black smoke causes injuries like the pilot had.

Re: Cinema
Dan - you should watch Heroes. Maybe you should take it up now PB has finished!? I'd say it's equally as good.
I'm pretty sure the black smoke is the monster mate - it killed Eko.
I also think your theory to tie-in Lost with Cloverfield is a bit OTT - you're turning into one of those Lost conspirators that have nothing better to do than create as many theories as possible.
Cloverfield was a reasonable film, but I didn't like the 1st person handicam-style filming - made me feel ill by the end.
The bank job is out soon, if not already. I quite like Jason Statham films - good action with a sprinkling of comedy. I think I'll see that.

But Eko didn't end up with horrific injuries!
I did think of the theory off the top of my head, I wasn't spendind days thinking!
Cloverfield was really good especially the way it was filmed, didn't make me feel ill, but I'm more of a man than you.

Re: Cinema
I have seen a few films since Christmas as a Christian Youth worker it often ends up being the norm for social outings. (that and pizza hut)
I am Legend - Very good film which has you on edge most of the film, but would have liked it to have a bit more detail on how it happened and how he ended being there alone. 4/5
Cloverfield - Really enjoyed this, my wife did not she thinks it's "Junk". Not great acting and show the thing too much however. Really thought it was original and clerverly made, ending was a bit pants and leave's it open for a sequel which could be a disaster. 5/5
Be Kind Rewind - Great film very funny especially if you know your movies. Gets serious for last 30mins or so but still a good film. 4/5
There will be blood - Great performance from Daniel day Lewis, but have to say what is going on with the music all the way through did my head in. Film was interesting with a great portrayal of the church in it (not) but unfortunately there are churches and people out there like that (mainly in America). Only thing is when the film finishes you do wonder what was the point of it? 3/5
Alien V's Predator (R) - This was a bit entertaining and if you go to watch a movie with this title you will need to go in not expecting much, I didn't and I wasn't disappointed. It ends up being a bit like a teen slasher movie but with Aliens and the Predator doing it instead. Easy watching though doesn't make you think too much. 2/5
Sweeny todd - When I found out 1 second into the film this was a musical I thought what am I getting myself in for. But film was very well done and Depp is good. Again though felt ending was a bit flat. 4/5
National Treasure 2 - If you enjoyed the first one you'll enjoy this one, although I don't think it is as good as the first as this one is much less believable. However I really enjoyed it. 3/5
--- Shield Champions 2008/09
3rd place in division 2 - not too shabby a season in the end!!

Re: Cinema
Cheers Slip massive
After months of caveats on here about spoiler threads and "Don't read here if you haven't seen series x" etc you've just ruined my future enjoyment of post Channel 4 Lost episodes by sneaking on some fairly comprehensive details on a thread entitled "Cinema".

He had enough of an injury to kill him!! I'm with John. The black smoke thing is the monster. You see it ripping up trees once or twice don't you?
TBC Ben, I'm not sure we've really spoiled much. I guess Eko dies in series 3 (I thought it was series 2), which hasn't been on C4 yet. It doesn't spoil much of the series though as he dies really early on. Still worth watching as there's loads of things you don't know.
