Widcombe 9 - 0 Welstock

Words cannot describe how i am feeling yesterday result has just summed up are season,

I didnt put the result up last night as i was lost for words and im still pretty shell shocked now no joke!!! alright i didnt have a great side out but i still thought we could of got a result

Chris im glad your on the forum can i personally apoligise about last night after 20 odd games of this theres only so much a person can take and i lost my temper to be honest not with the opposition but with my some players!!

This season has been a complete waste of time quite frankly some players not all attitude stinks within the welstock team people dont pay subs i mean come on its not hard to bring 4 quid to a game is it?

Some people let me know less than 24 hours that they cant make it (if ur ill fair enuff) its not just once its every game!! i always expect fri night something to go wrong!! and 90 % this season it has!!

Quite frankly i think i have been to soft this season with some people!! but id like to thank Kev, Andy and Matty Coombes because with out us 4 welstock wouldnt of lasted this season!

As for next season a few of us are going to sit down and talk about this as i feel we have embarrased welton baptist church!! and the spirit has gone a bit within this club thankfully a couple of players who are sigining on next season go to church regularly which i think will help a lot!!

A shell shocked

Lenny!!

Bad luck fella. I think these seasons come along every now and again. Last year was similar for us (despite winning the Division!) and this season's been much the same. S'pose you could follow my lead and storm off in a huff emoticon but I think you actually have to have played a minimum of seven seasons to be able to do that emoticon .

Seriously though Len, I've got no doubt you'll be winning most of your games next year and you'll probably find that people are much more keen to play. But lay down the law at the beginning of the season and stick to your guns. I didn't do that this year and we've paid the price. Head up mate, If someone asked you three seasons ago whether you'd have had a season in the top-flight would you have believed them? On top of that I think the spirit you've got in the team is so much better than a few years back.

Reckon all in all it's a great acheivement. Well done.

Concur with that Dave. Chin up Lenny. Yours boys gave a good account of yourselves in the 2 games you played us and they were played in an excellent spirit.

It does help when you are winning but in some ways it also shows some peoples' real motivation.

Don't forget that this league above other leagues is not purely about results. I think Welstock have come a long way and look forward to hearing that they bounce back next season.

Lenny

Apology accepted, no problem.

As I have already said you gave a very good account of yourselves for the first 60 mins. even at 2-0 it was still a close game. goals 3 and 4 within 2 mins killed the game off, and some of your guy's gave in. I said to the boy's (my son's) at half time that the way you had played I could not understand how you only had 2 points all season. I have known Matt C for some years and he always seems to have a smile on his face. I did feel sorry for you Matt and your Captain at the end. Hang in there.

This is probably a gripe that most managers have. A couple of seasons ago, after we'd played about 4 pre-season friendlies, I worked out that the Slip were already something like £40 down on subs from where we should have been.

We then introduced a 'pay before you play' policy i.e. collect the money before the game rather than afterwards as we used to (half the problem was some people would shoot off before you asked them for cash). This has been a lot more successful, although you still get the odd muppet who turns up with only 50p in change on them (but I won't mention John Spring by name).

Surely you just keep a record of who plays and who pays, and those that don't pay have their account adding up.

What some people do at Woodies is pay £100 at the start of the season to cover their fees and it just chips away at training and matches. Not everyone can do that but some people pay £20 here and now which covers their fees.

People south of the river don't have that sort of money. We have to spend our money on house alarms, car alarms, Kevlar vests, hospital fees etc.
