Good shout with Davydenko Turpin. Didn't think he'd lose this early myself, but Becker (Benjiman, not Boris) does have a decent-ish Wimbledon record I think. Just goes to show how over-rated he is. In fact, I'd say he's the Ibrahimovic of the tennis world.

And how bad Davydenko is at Wimbledon - 5 1st round exits in 7 years emoticon There are plenty of other players that are better than Davydenko, he's 15th at best.

The reason he is ranked so high is that he plays loads of tournaments, 28 in the last year. That is 10 more than Federer and 8 more than Nadal. It is also more than any other top 16 player.

Davydenko is too highly ranked, but I'm not sure he'd be as low as 15 if he played fewer tournaments. Probably still sneak into the top 10. He never seems to bother with Wimbledon though.

Davydenko had won 5 out of 18 matches on grass before yesterday, so there was always a good chance Becker could beat him. Becker went out in the first round last year, losing to Chela, a clay court player, so I wouldn't get carried away with Becker either.

Davydenko's high rank is normally because he enters the more obscure tournaments. For example, Queens and Halle are played at the same time, Davydenko would choose Halle every time. I remember Murray chasing a Masters Cup spot at the end of 2006 or 2007 and he avoided the big American tournaments in favour of a South African (I think S.A) tournament and who was his main threat - none other than Nicolay Davydenko. I wouldn't be surprised if his head to head results against the top 10 players are very poor.

I've had a look at today's games. I can't see any potential shocks on the mens side but Chakveladze (8th seed) looked poor in her 1st round game and looks worth opposing at 1/4.

Seeing as you asked....

v Federer: W0 L10 emoticon
v Nadal: W1 L3
v Djokovic: W1 L0
v Ferrer: W1 L1
v Rod****: W1 L2
v Nalbandian: W1 L5
v Blake: W0 L4
v Wawrinka: Never played each other
v Gasquet: W1 L1
v Murray: W3 L3

So, Djokovic is the only one of the other 10 best players in the world that he has a better record against, and they've only played once. Equal record with Murray, Gasquet and Ferrer. Everyone else, he's got the worse head-to-head record, and considerably so for a couple of them!!

Trivia question: prior to Wimbledon, can you name the only 3 players in the world who had a positive head to head record against Federer?

2 out of 3 correct. Not sure Gonzalez has ever beaten Federer though.....just checked - he has. Once. Federer has beaten him 11 times though. Think Fed has the edge.
