Big shock IMO. Safin's Wimbledon record is pretty poor. Djokovic made the semis last year I think (from memory), and gave Rafa a good match in the final at Queens a week ago. Fed will have loved this result. He's already a set and a break up in his match against Soderling.

Wasn't that much of a surprise to me. Every day the Daily mail does a review of the days action and had Djokovic as "The seed in danger". So I was always hopeful of an upset.
Safin is also a better player than his 70ish ranking suggests.

The day I pay attention to a Daily Mail sports reporter is the day I'll know I've lost it. Yes, Safin is better than 70, but his Wimbledon record is one QF, and never better than 3rd round apart from that. Against Djokovic, who was in good form a week ago, that was a bolt from the blue.

I am an optomist where as you are well known for being a pessimist. Besides most papers spout there fair share of crap. The "seed in danger" was just a small 4 line prediction, not a peice of journalism so your anti Daily mail viewpoint is hardly relevant here.
Re: Tennis Thread The seeding system is a joke it seems to be entirely based on world rankings meaning Daveydenko is 4th seed and David Ferrer is 5th seed. Why oh why did they stop taking grass court record into consideration.

They do to a certain extent. Hewitt is seeded 7 places above his ranking, and Murray is seeded one place lower. Agree that Davydenko's seeding is wrong though.
