Re: Tennis Thread
On a positive note, any games that Murray does win between now and August can only improve his ranking as he was out injured at this time last year.

I admit that he is not the most likable of players but if he does well it will hopefully encourage younger players and kids to take up the sport. Hopefully they won't develop his attitude.

Re: Tennis Thread
Yeah, he was pretty lucky. Saw he was 4-2 up in the first set and assumed it would be a routine victory. Was pretty shocked when I saw the score this morning. In his defence, this guy may be 387 in the world, but he's also only 17, so only just starting out in his career, and may well be a much better player than his ranking suggests. Also, home advantage can play a big part, as we've seen many a journeyman British player pick up the odd win against top 50 players at Wimbledon.
Anyway, the important thing is he's through. Next game is against an Argie. Likely to be a clay court specialist, so Murray could have his work cut out.
Quite strange that they started on a Sunday. Anyone know if that's ever happened before in a Slam?

Re: Tennis Thread
Federer eases through the first round. Nadal didn't play due to rain.
Are you brave enough to predict a winner in the ladies Ben? I'm gonna pick Ivanovic, with Mauresmo a good outside bet.
