My pre-tournament (well, almost) prediction is Rafa for the men's,
Great final yesterday. Shame I had to miss two sets. Some of the play was incredible, and the difference between the two of them was negligible. I think I heard that Federer actually won more points, but that's tennis.
That's why I recorded it whilst I was at church Saw up to the third set when it was 5-4 Federer.
Managed to avoid the score which was good, got home from church at 20.30, finished tidying the lounge as had been decorating, got Manda to check it had finished and then sat down to watch. The only problem was that whilst I was tidying, the video ran out of space so had to put another one in quickly.
So I watched the rest, gripping stuff, brilliant shots and incredible tennis. It was level at 7-7 in the final set when the video ran out so I put the other video in and it was deuce in that game but I was shaking with excitement and worry as to what I may have missed Finshed watching at 00.15
Unbelievable final, the best game I've ever seen, both players were outstanding, if only Fed had taken some of his break points in the first 2 sets it could have been all so different. I was cheering on Fed as I wanted him to win 6 on the trot, Nadal was going to win it sooner or later, but still pleased for Rafa, worthy champ.
My fav moment of the match was when Nadal had his 3rd championship point in the 4th set tie-break, he served a good, wide first serve but the return from Federer was out of this world and to do that at championship point down was incredible. He's still the best IMO, but if Rafa goes better than him at the US Open, then they'll be a new number 1 for sure. Rafa has improved immensely on grass, he's always been great on clay as we know, he now needs to win Wimbledon for the next few years, then he can be truly classed as up there with the all time greats.

Re: Tennis Thread
Must be hard to play for nearly 5 hours and lose, even if you have won it 5 times before.
