Re: Worst capped England players... Heskey (AKA Mr Charisma) has been frustrating but I still think he's done a good job for England!
Some great shouts from people with players i'd forgotten about at club level let alone for England.
Being the self-centred man that I am, the first thing I did when I clicked on Shearsy's link was check to see if any players were called 'Spring'...
The closest was a Ron Springett who made 33 appearances but was a goalkeeper! However, he did get a world cup winning medal as was part of the squad for the 1966 triumph!

I doubt any one will get closer than me with Alan Shearer!
Re: Worst capped England players... I have to say steve mcmanaman. class for Liverpool pants for England most of the time. Downing is similar. Sorry know hes a Liverpool player but come on.
What about players who were shocking for club but surprisingly good for county.
Vassell and Anderton spring to mind!
--- Shield Champions 2008/09
3rd place in division 2 - not too shabby a season in the end!!
Re: Worst capped England players... Sorry I disagree, Downing has done an OK job for England so far. Better than Lampard.
And Anderton was great in Euro 96.
