With Downing he has done OK but hasn’t stood out which he needs to do. And I think you misunderstood me with regards to Anderton. I was saying about players who weren’t great for club but managed to do it for county. I was saying he was a good England player!

Crofty, you have to bear with EnglishT. He's a keeper, so not the brightest. Obviously Lumpar is the exception to prove the rule.

Heskey is the man! Anderton's goal Euro 96 was ace good england player, he's ace for Bournemouth too though so good at club and country.!

Think he may have meant his goal in France 98 (against Colombia?). Can't remember him scoring in Euro 96. Nath, I know that, I was being smug. Just for reference, I saw the 2-0 win v Scotland and the 4-1 win against Holland at Wembley. Happy days.
And your memory serves you correct. But weren't you about 28 at the time??

i think he's thinking of the goal in the umbro tournament in 95 where it went in off both posts, think it was against sweden.
that was a great tourney, remember le saux's goal against brazil?
why don't we have little mini international tournaments like that any more? le tournoi is the last one i can remember

That was a great tournament! I went to the Japan game when their defender was sent off for handball on the line and he had to walk the entire length of the pitch to get to the changing room...good times!
