Yep, they'll need Champions League football to actually get the top players, but say you're both going for Villa next summer (or even January). You offer £30m, City offer £35m. Valencia accept Man City's offer but reject yours. If you want to sign Villa, you may be forced to match their offer, in which case I would fully expect him to choose Chelsea ahead of Man City.
For the record, I am genuinely concerned that - depending on who Man City actually manage to sign in January and next summer - either us or Arsenal could drop out of the top 4 next season.

As good a cup manager I think Rafa has been winning CL and FA Cup I would think that if Liverpool don't capture the league this time around then he may never do it, liverpool are a top 4 club but is rafa a top 4 manager? he's good by the way not having a go just saying is he the right man to take you to the top?
The whole Man city thing has made things interesting as Chelsea were able to stop anyone buying players by out bidding them just for the sake of it sometimes, like with Parker, SWP etc but now the unthinkable has happened and now even Chelsea will be out bidded.
Chelsea proved that money can buy you success as long as you get a good manager. City despite their lack of trophies in recent decades can do the same, Hughes is a good manager, but is he the manager that can make city a top 4 club and even champions?

Re: The 'Slip Thread
Also im sure if Villa knew he could get a gig at Chelsea, he would reject city, leaving Valencia to have to accept the other bid. Think it will still be a while before City can attract the top top players as I can see them over paying for above average players for the first year at least.
Also, would love to see Liverpool drop out of top 4

Not too sure about this, if city get in some class players in Jan like they say they will, then come the begining of nxt season city will be hard to beat in the transfer market. City were lifted by the signing of SWP, just think what will happen when robiniho and co start playing?

All of Chelsea players would have gone to city by end of Jan so he could resign for them and maybe start.

Re: The 'Slip Thread
The link did. Don't think it's the one you want though. Bit tricky to tell from a picture.
