Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD

I'll have you know that in both those games we were not losing whilst I was on the pitch.

Turps, hardly think that counts as a reaction. Just trying to remind you from whence you should have been.

Turpin never played in division 2. Oh yeah he did, once, can't remember who against though and how many goals he scored though emoticon

I do believe I played in that game too, what was the result again? emoticon

Woodies 2-3 'Slip

 emoticon

And from what I remember, we had a goal disallowed after the ref ruled the ball had gone out of play, despite being stood on the edge of the area and no flag from the lino. Still, only bitter people (aka losers) go on about refereeing decisions and how it cost them a victory long after the event don't they? emoticon

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD

How do they do it? They have even turned a Division 2 Thread into one now discussing The Slip. Only thing I can think of is they are checking it out and preparing themselves for next season. emoticon

to be honest i would say are match with c3 is a must win this saturday if we want to do anything this season!!! (im sure andy will agree with me)

Iv been embarrased by are start of are season if im honest!! half the team is new and it is like starting from scratch!!

But no excuses there is more than enough in this squad to do something this season i just think its becoming a mental issue with this team when we go a goal down etc!! there aint a game when someone isnt on some1s back which dont help!!

it is good that the team seems to be enjoying there football more than we did last season tho i must admit!!

But there still a few issues to sort out and there is a bit of a divide within this team

we need to sort are act together soon otherwise itll b a midtable scrap!!

as for the other teams i would say the standard has improved 3 times in terms of quality since we were last in divsion 2!! there is no easy game in this league i would say at all.

should be fun although i aint enjoying it at the mo lol!!

The team isn't playing together and working for each other as much. When we got promoted we weren't the greatest talent ever, but we all supported each other on and off the pitch and it was the belief more than anything that we could go up.

In my opinion the league has improved greatly, but our team is stronger and more talented than when we got promoted. It's just the attitude of a few players at the moment which doesn't help. I have to say i'm not enjoying my football at the moment, and winning isn't everything. If you don't enjoy playing then you won't enjoy winning.

Wasn't surprised SAS beat Rock on Saturday although i think i predicted a Rock win
emoticon When we played Rock last season especially at home we were unlucky to lose and they have apparently got weaker. SAS played well against us and can't argue with the result at all.

CCC appear to be in a false position, let us hope they are still in a false position come midday on Saturday.

Ah. But until Saturday you had 100% in cup and league including win v Sanctuary thats not hype. SAS are a good team on their day but didn't expect you guys not to score. You'll be OK tho' and still be right up there come the end of the season. Your game v Sanctuary next will be a good one and could start to give the league some shape.

Team spirit does count for an awful lot, you have to adopt the attitude that everything you do in a game and in training, you do for the team and not yourself.

There used to be a sign over the home team dressing room door at the Mem as a reminder to all players as they walked out of the dressing room and it said "when you cross the white line, you cease to be an individual".

Wise words indeed.

edit: of course I shouldn't really be sharing this stuff with the opposition, but have it as a freebie!

Is true you need to be a unit and play as one. We have only managed to turn our season around since we went back to basics and kept things simple.

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD

So after a break for most teams last week in the shield it’s back to the nitty gritty of the league.

Last week’s only Division 2 game saw C3 beat Welton convincingly 6-0, Welton are struggling and gaining promotion this year may be beyond them now, C3 had to win that game to remain in the hunt, they are now on 4 points from 5 games (7 possibly 10 off of top) not a great start for them but they will hope that it will kick start their season.

This week’s fixtures are:
BS4 v Widcombe
C3 v Pistols
Hayhill v Hillfields
Kensington v Welton
Rock v Sanctuary

So the big game of the day is Rock v Sanctuary, Rock have already got one over The Sanctuary winning 3-2 in the cup but how bothered were the Sanctuary at losing that one. I can see Sanctuary winning this one and handing Rock 2 defeats in a row, however a draw would be a likely result. The next big game is third versus forth BS4 v Widcombe, a win for either would put them at least second maybe better if Sanctuary drop points. We have managed to sort a last minute fixture with Hayhill and will hope to continue our good run, but Hayhill are a good side and didn’t finish third for nothing last year it will be a very tough game, they also held BUCU to 1-1 in 90mins last week. C3 should win at Pistols although Bruce may be back so they maybe much tighter than usual. The other interesting game is Kensington v Welton. Kensington knocked Welton out of the cup earlier in the season but both are not flying in the league as much as I had expected, the losers of this game may have to wait till next year to look at promotion.

SAS play in the GFA so good luck to them fly that Div 2 flag!
