Not at all. We did it because it was the end of the season, the result didn't matter and we thought it would be fun. I still enjoyed that game.

I am just making the point that Turps was using the excuse your keeper was on the wing as if we chose your team for you. But although we won 3-0 it was much closer than it suggested and was fun, you even had to stop chappell scoring a screamer he he.

It was going wide to be fair.

This is a bit of a daft argument really, Counterslip are of course the better team. To be honest Rich, you have just got a bit lucky really. Friendlies count for nothing, whatever they did to get beaten in the shield...well who knows, perhaps they need a decent manager? emoticon

Of course they are better emoticon, thats what makes it amusing, as for luck we didn't win because of luck on Saturday nor in the friendlies, we won because we deserved to, isn't that right Davo emoticon Also Dan will tell you the reason we won those three games was due to Slip defensive errors, no luck involved i am afraid, just the opposition not fulfilling their potential on the day. emoticon Luck, very funny, although you did play for them in one of the friendlies does that count emoticon

Well I suppose me playing in one of them did make it a tad unfair

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD

Div two update: So after last weeks games what do people think.
BS4 1 v Widcombe 4
Hayhill 0 v Hillfields 1
Rock 1 v Sanctuary 8
Kensington 3 v Welton 0
Pistols 3 v C3 3

The big score was Sanctuary demolishing title rivals Rock, I am sure Rock had an off day but Sanctuary are flying and fully deserve to be where they are. Widcombe made up for their opening day draw to BS4 by winning well and have sneaked up to 2nd place (keep and eye on them) Rock game for them in 2 weeks will be an interesting one. We have edged up to third which is great for us winning our 4 forth league game on the bounce. SAS didn’t play but slipped to 5th however they play Sanctuary this sat a win for the Sanctuary and I can see them winning this league at a canter. BS4 have slipped down to 6th but I think would have taken that at this point of the season. Rock have lost against SAS and Sanctuary successively and as much as I don’t write them off Paul will need to get them regrouped for a tricky tie at Welton. Israel with a good win at Santos last week are in contention and will be a team to keep an eye on. C3, this is the team I am shock by at the moment as they in my eyes would have deserved promotion last year as they were one of the best footballing sides in the league I expect them to move up the table but they keep dropping further away to the teams at the top and even with a recovery may struggle to make up the deficit. Welton early season favourites for promotion are in a rut at the moment much like ours and although I can see them recovering they may be too far away to gain promotion. Kensington are chipping away and collecting points quietly they have games in hand which could put them up to sixth so keep an eye on them too. After playing Hayhill last week they are a different team to last season, however they set out their stall to stop us last week and it nearly worked they I think were missing players too, they will collect points over the season but won’t trouble at the top. Pistols, these boys collecting an unexpected point to C3 and with Bruce and others back from injury I can see them creeping up the table but they need to keep their good players fit. Gordano they seem improved on last season and we play them this Saturday but as where BS4 have gone up another level Gordano don’t seem to have moved up as much, can see them battling things out with Pistols and Hayhill but not many more teams, although I expect a tough game this sat as always.

This Sat:

Sanctuary v SAS
Gordano v Hillfields
Widcombe v Kensington
BS4 v C3
Welton v Rock
Pistols v Israel

Game of the day is SAS v Sanctuary, should Sanctuary drop points then a win for Widcombe and/or Hillfields could change it at the top. Will be interesting to see if Pistols can build on their draw last week and if BS4 can recover after losing. Rock v Welton seems an interesting tie, but if Rock are struggling with players again then Welton may get their season back on track.

Its no wonder us Division 1 elite players gloss over Div 2 when you have to read a paragraph as long as a BS4 injury list. emoticon

This is true, I wonder myself that should we get promoted one day will I become like many other first divisioners and become narrow minded and suddely gain tunnel vision. Perhaps there is some kind of brain washing goining on in the BCFA that makes players in Div1 think there is only one BCFA division. It can't be you Eakes or the slip boys as you've only been in the league a couple of years must be a veteren of league like Ben, TNS or those BSXI boys, watch your back Eakes, if anyone approches you asking you to put what looks like a Sieve with wires coming out of it on your head, RUN or in your case walk as fast as you can. emoticon

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD

So an interesting weekend in Division Two.

Sanctuary managed a draw despite being down to 10 men most of the game which shows that nobody yet has been able to challenge them. A draw does close the gap a bit for some teams but not enough for them to worry about it.
Hillfields, we moved up to second this week after an enjoyable win at Gordano and finally got into the plus goal difference for the first time this season. Have a tough game with Hayhill this week tho, but we do have the goal machine called Lumpar .
BS4, I’ve decided to try and stop being shocked by their results, they have proven a third into the season that they have got what it takes to stay in the top half of the table and are proving a tougher test than people thought.
Widcombe, no game this week but only 3 points off of top expect them to stay at the top part of the table now.
SAS, perhaps would have wanted a win against 10 men but they are the only team to take points off of Sanctuary this year and still remain unbeaten. Also a game in hand for them, they will be right up there.
Rock, still very much in contention, expect to see them near the top.
Israel, No game this week but games in hand put them near the top!!
C3, Shocked by their start still think they will start picking it up soon.
Welton, a tight loss to Rock may give them confidence to know they are not far from getting a result.
Kensington, Not many games yet but an indifferent start not too sure where they’ll finish up.
Hayhill, seems they are struggling a little this year but still expect them to take points off of teams.
Pistols, expect to see them collect some points now with the return of Bruce.
Gordano, Seem to be struggling this year and not too sure how many points they’ll be able to get this season.

Going into the end of the first third of the season, I think that you’re looking at a top six (Sanctuary, Hillfields, BS4, Widcombe, SAS, Rock) to battle out for the two promotion spots. Then a mid table group of (Israel, C3, Kensington, Welton.) with (Hayhill, Pistols Gordano) fighting for the final 3 spots. Although I can see one of the top swapping with a midtable team.

Still a long way to go but some shape forming now.
