Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD
Obviously i wouldn't be complaining, it's just like when franco hit nailsea for 6. Games like this win golden boots, that's all i'm saying. My biggest ever win was 8-0 against Frome Sports under 14's i scored 6 then. Eat my own words lol.
Before Slip get in with a comment i'll do it for them....
Was that this year?

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD
So a couple of weekends games played since my last post. Sanctuary have shown they are clearly favourites to win the league with only to one game to prove themselves against Widcombe on 20th Dec to show they are the best team in the league so far. SAS have lived up to their billing as promotion favourites by remaining unbeaten and being the only team to take points off of Sanctuary. Rock are still up there but losing to the top two shows they may fall just short but a good second half of the season showing and they can get back in the 1st Div. Hillfields have lost 4 games now, two to teams they would have expected to beat if they were to be taken seriously as promotion contenders. A strong second half of the season performance will keep them in the running but the gap to the top two is starting to widen. C3 have had two good results to get back in the top half, however a poor early showing may cost them promotion although they may well take some points off of the top few teams. Widcombe like Hillfields lost to C3, Widcombe still have games in hand but may be looking at a top 4/5 finish. Hayhill have found some form of late to move midtable but that may be where they end up, BS4 are staying in the top half and are showing no signs of budging a return from injuries for some of their players may push them on further in 2009, Israel and Kensington have had similar starts but if they win their games in hand they could move into the top 4. Welton are now showing the form of two years ago and may well creep up the table third from bottom is not somewhere they would like to remain. Pistols and Gordano will likely battle it out for bottom spot with little between them,
All in all a tight league but unless SAS drop some points soon it may be a formality as to who the top two will be. From 3rd to 9th it is very tight like last season.

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD
Are next two games are Bristol Pistols... hopefully 6 points. Would love to go on an unbeaten run up to the Semi-Final.

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD
So andrew how do you see Div2 shaping up in 2009 part of the season.
I think Sanctuary have it in the bag, SAS are comfortable but catchable. I think Widcombe, Rock and hopefully us to challenge for second. With C3 Kensington and BS4 below that and then Israel Hayhill Welton, Pistols and Gordano. think the table is starting to reflect this but I think their may be some shock scorelines still to come hopefully we've hard ours now.

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD
A bad year for Welton certainly not one i want to look back on, I really think Sanctuary are beatable. They won't go the whole season unbeaten in the league. Sanctuary went crazy when they were still drawing with a minute to go against us. I think if a better side can get a goal and sit on it. Then they could be beaten.
SAS whooped us both times, and certainly the first game deservedly so. The second game we had a very weak side out and unfortunately expected it. I'm sure there goal difference will help.
Further down the table we have now played most sides and based on who we've played the table should look somthing like this.
Sanctuary/SAS
C3/BS4/Rock
Kensington
Welton
Hayhill
Bristol Pistols
Gordano
Can't comment on you, israel and Widcombe till we've played them, but Israel seem to struggle to get numbers and this could tell later on in the season when they will definitely have several midweek games.
The main thing for us now is the Shield, a must win game on February 14th, need to build the confidence up after the first half of the seasons shambles bar, Nailsea and Sanctuary.
Think your still in with a shout waiting for one of the Top two to slip up.

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD
So finally some div 2 footy for the first time since December 20th!!!
Half way through for us now and table is taking some kind of shape. Some interesting results on Saturday which could shape the way it will go for the remainder of the season.
Sanctuary – Another workman like victory for them against a tough Hayhill side keeps them top of the pile and by some distance.
Hillfields - We moved up to 2nd with a great win against SAS, a result which probably pleased Sanctuary more than most, I just hope it wasn’t a one off and that we can keep that momentum especially going into the top of the table clash this week.
SAS – were a little under strengthened Saturday and till then unbeaten I do not expect to see them slide away they are quality enough to stay in the hunt and still have games in hand over us.
Rock – A draw with C3 isn’t a bad one but they will want to pick up some wins against these teams if they are to stay in the hunt for promotion.
Widcombe – Still very much in the hunt a few more wins and they can challenge but need to keep a consistent 11 out to challenge at the top.
C3 – On their day good enough to beat most but this season they are very inconsistent this Saturday v SAS will say a lot about where they are heading this season.
BS4 – Lack of football will be hard to take but already a successful season for them will hope not to drop any further after a bright start.
Hayhill – A solid team defensively but struggle up front will likely stay in this part of the table but I expect them to take points off teams at the top.
Israel – Seem to be the team which may climb much higher than their current position if Arnaud gets a solid team out each week then he can see them push near the top.
Kensington – Similar to Israel in that they may have the quality to keep further up but may not have a regular 11.
Welton – Possibly the biggest underachievers this season considering they came down but with a semi final match on the horizon making a final will make up for it. Also Welton seem to have found some form of late and could push further up in the coming weeks.
Pistols – Will likely stay where they are but they are nicking a few points of teams above them.
Gordano – Can’t see them getting of the bottom but they are a good bunch and if they can pull together there are some games for them which they can get some points.
I would take the table as it is now for obvious reason, however think the top five (perhaps not sanctuary) will chop and change position in the coming months.
My Heart says as is but my head thinks this:
1 Sanctuary 1 (current pos)
2 SAS 3
3 Rock 4
4 Hillfields 2
5 Widcombe 5
6 Israel 9
7 C3 6
8 Kensington 10
9 BS4 7
10 Welton 11
11 Hayhill 8
12 Pistols 12
13 Gordano 13
Games this week
Pistols v BS4 (can see a draw here)
Rock v Israel (can see another draw here although Israel may edge it on form)
SAS v C3 (got a feeling C3 may win this as SAS don’t enjoy their company)
Sanctuary v Hillfields (Sanctuary win this and they are champions elect we gotta be super good to get anything against them)
Welton v Hayhill (Draw)
Widcombe v Gordano (Win for Widcombe although only won reverse fixture 1-0)

Re: DIVISION TWO THREAD
Always happier being the underdog Rich, never felt right when people started predicting us winning games!!
Have to say our fixture situation is ridiculous. Best part of 2 months without a game and having to play 2 evening games at present in April. Absolutely daft!

I think you'll still do well but perhaps the surprise you had on teams early season isn't there now, teams will not be taking you too lightly now which will make it tougher. I think you were always seen as the underdog still based on last season but you just had a great start and surpised a lot of teams.
