Guthrie escapes a further ban. The FA are on a roll of bad decisions. What next? Appoint McLaren again?

Absolutely disgraceful.

Re: The Premiership thread

"The only circumstances in which we could take any further action would be to issue an additional charge against a player.

"This occurs only in exceptional cases, such as Ben Thatcher's challenge on Pedro Mendes in 2006."

Surely this is an exceptional case!! They are both cases of assualt where a player has gone in with absolutely no intention of getting the ball.

To be fair Nath that save from Babel was quality! Was indeed a very good goal from Gerrard.

Didnt see a lot of the match myself but from what I saw at the end Reina was keeping you infront again!

Yeah I know. I was being a little harsh on him.

Reina did make some good saves. Crucial one at the very end when I really thought they would score.

Yeah, I thought that. He broke the guy's leg with an intentional hack. What exactly classifies as "exceptional"?

Wrong thread.

Dan - you must be getting confused with Steve GerraRd who, I admit, did score in the Champions league. Different spelling though.

I think Si is talking about Derek Gerrad, the Lanacashire Suburban Premiership player.

Re: The Premiership thread

I know it doesn't justify it, but the tackle by Guthrie couldn't have happened to a nicer player:

What goes around comes around so they say. Still don't condone what Guthrie did.

Re: The Premiership thread

Interesting stat in the Bolton v Arsenal game today. After 24 minutes Arsenal had completed something like 132 passes and Bolton 19. And Bolton were winning 1-0 at the time!!!
