Never gonna happen. Even if it did, they would still leak goals like Kirby leaks in the bed.

The top 4 will be the same as always. Spurs have lost their captain and 2nd best player. Berbatov might leave too. They won't finish 4th.

keane isn't their real captain, only fills in when deadly ledley isn't fit, which is most of the time!

i don't think they'll challenege the top 4, but on paper spurs are easily the 5th best side in the prem.

the new keeper Gomes has always looked good for PSV, bale and hutton are top young full backs, and woodgate & king are both international quality when fit

modric and bentley will both do great for them, with dos santos to offer a lot from the bench i fancy. if they get arshavin to go with berbatov and a rejuvenated darren bent they still have plenty of fire power

not to mention youngsters like gunter, o'hara and bostock who should all make an impact this season

bostock has apparently been awesome in pre-season, it'd be amazing to see him playing in the prem at 16!

If they leave dos Santos on the bench, then they are fools.

Beano, one of the most laughable things I've seen you write. Take a look at it again. Ramos a good manager - yes. King and Woodgate staying fit - how much have they managed to do that over the last 5 years? I don't reckon they'll even manage to play half of their league games together. It's basically the same as me saying "If Rafa picks our best team for every game, then we might win the league". It's not gonna happen. Modric is a good player, but could take time to settle into the Prem. You never know how foreigners will adapt. For every Torres, there's a Shevchenko. The same applies to Dos Santos (he didn't play much for Barca did he, so he can't be that great?), but Bentley you would think would settle straight in.

My main question about Spurs is where is their defensive midfield cover? United have Hargreaves/Carrick. Liverpool have Masch/Alonso. Arsenal had Flamini last season. Who's going to protect Spurs defence? Zakora? I think Spurs will improve a bit this season, but I think they've bought so many new players that it'll take them a while to settle down. Personally, I think Portsmouth will definitely finish above them, and so will we.

And finally, ignore pre-season form. It counts for pretty much nothing. Voronin looked excellent in pre-season for us last year.

Re: The Premiership thread

1 Liverpool (if they get Barry)
2 Man U
3 Chelsea
4 Arsenal (all within 10 pints of each other)
5 Man City
6 Tottenham
7 Portsmouth
8 Everton
9 Newcastle
10 Sunderland
11 Blackburn
12 Middlesbro
13 Aston Villa (If Barry Goes)
14 West Ham
15 Fulham
16 Wigan
17 West Brom
18 Bolton
19 Stoke
20 Hull

If Benitez can learn to not change team too much and if barry signs can see a very solid Liverpool with a strong attack going for title, strikers need to stay fit tho'. Liverpools problem is that against weaker teams Benetez plays a weaker team and drops points, Chelsea did this 6 or so years ago if Liverpool can go to wigan and win then they will make up the points. emoticon

Liverpool will not win the league, end of, FACT etc

It will be a two horse race again. Liverpool will probably finish above Arsenal this season.

Can see Everton struggling to maintain their progress unless they go awol in the transfer market.

For 4th: Arsenal, Spurs or Pompey

Stoke, Hull and boro to go down.

I don't think that's such a bad shout actually. They've lost a couple of key players (Bentley and Friedel) and don't seem to have signed anyone of note, apart from Robbie Fowler.... emoticon

I'd agree with this, apart from I can't see Spurs or Pompey pushing Arsenal/Liverpool for 4th. I also don't think Boro will go down. I'm expecting them to have a better season this year.
