No.

Why not? He's not injured is he?

Just checked, and apparently he is, out for two weeks. Fernando might play a part today though. emoticon

Almost bound to, and for the sake of my fantasy teams, I hope he does (with Liverpool coming out on top, obviously).

Top at the turn of the year now!!! I don't care how bad Newcastle were today. Liverpool seem to have found some form again, let's hope it continues. emoticon

Re: The Premiership thread

Anyone (other than Liverpool fans) starting to think Liverpool really could do it? I'm starting to think they can. Both Man U and Chelsea aren't really showing good form. If Liverpool can string 3-4 wins together and open up a bit of a gap who knows?

Re: The Premiership thread

Would have to say that Man U are favourites now. So many times they've been 2nd or 3rd over Christmas and then pulled away.

Guess the big difference is that usually they've pulled away from Arsenal, who aren't renowned for their mental fortitude - largely because of Wenger and his persistence with a) very young players and b) senior players with temprament issues. Liverpool could well be a different proposition.

Chelsea are obviously still well in the mix as well but I think they're on a downward slope now. Virtually every Chelsea fan I've spoken to is sick of them and apparently Stamford Bridge is the quietest it's ever been. Possibly a reason for their poor home form? You also can't discount the fact that Chelsea have a manager who is new to the Prem. I realise he's hugely experienced, but if I had to back a two horse race in the Prem between Scolari and Fergie then my money would be on Fergie every time.

Anyway, most important thing is that it's shaping up to be one of the best Premiership seasons in recent times. Best example of this for me is Villa in 4th, who started with 9 English players against Arsenal (Arsenal managing a big fat zero) and were great fun to watch.

Interesting fact - only once in Premiership history has the team that's been top on Christmas Day not gone on to win the Prem that season. That was last year, with Arsenal top on Christmas Day. emoticon

According to Sky Sports News, this is incorrect. In the last 4 seasons, the team top at Christmas has won the league 3 times. In the 16 years of Premiership exsistance, it has only happened 6 times.

We were great today, yeah Newcastle were bad but we destroyed them and it could have easily been 10 if it weren't for the best keeper in the world.

I'm not getting carried away and will not think we can win it unless we are top at Easter.

Sadly we have more of those teams that have been tripping us up to come in Stoke and Wigan. We also have the Merseyside Derby.

Re: The Premiership thread

I got £20 @14/1 for Liverpool on Saturday Night. I can now lay them at 3's!!!

The bloke at our social club doesn't know what he's doing.

He had Man City at 6/1 earlier this season.
