Re: The Premiership thread
At least you got to January this year before you realised you couldn't win the title. Thats progress.

Re: The Premiership thread
You seem to forget that you fluked 2-3 wins back in August/September with late goals so what goes around comes around.
Actually, I expect you to beat Chelsea on Saturday but then drop points at Portsmouth.

Dan, what are your thoughts on the penalty claim in the second half. Strangely Davo (striker) and I (defender) disagree. As Jagielka came in to tackle Torres he deliberately stuck out a leg to shield/block Jagielka which meant Jagielka came into contact with Torres' leg. So is that a penalty? Would have been harsh on Everton I reckon and I say no pen.
I thought it should have been a pen, but I'm willing to admit that that might be a bit biased as it would have been slightly harsh. There was definate contact, Jagielka didn't get the ball so outside of the box, it would definately have been a free kick so on that basis, should be a pen.
Sorry to come to this debate late in the day, but every time I've seen this incident its looked like a more clear cut pen. Torres knew Jagielka was coming, so he did the right thing and tried to get part of his body between Jagielka and the ball. It's the defender's responsibility to make sure that he doesn't take out the player. Jagielka got nothing of the ball, took out Torres' leg (Torres can hardly be accused of diving on this occasion) and that's how Everton regained possession. Definate pen.

Probably right. If it's a draw on sunday and United win, then the championship is over as United will be 4 points clear with a game in hand.

I bit early to say it'll be over. There's still about 15 games left, so a lot can happen. They'll be massive favourites, but they still have to play us, Arsenal and Chelsea, albeit all at home.

I don't think so, not if they go 7 points clear.

Re: The Premiership thread
Before Rafa’s rant about Ferguson (silly Boy). Liverpool were on 45 points 7 points clear of Man U who had two games in hand.
Since then Liverpool have played 3 and taken 3 out of 9 points and Man U 4 games and taken 12/12.
United are now 2 points clear with a game in hand.
Rafa is the new Keegan – what a wally, if he had kept his head down focused on staying top then Liverpool will most likely still be there.
Liverpool Before: Pld 20 Pts 45
After: Pld 23 Pts 48
Man U Before: Pld 18 Pts 38
After Pld 22 Pts 50
--- Shield Champions 2008/09
3rd place in division 2 - not too shabby a season in the end!!
