Re: The Premiership thread

Interesting game. Thought Mike Riley had a bit of a shocker, however I did have some sympathy with his decision to issue a red to Lampard.

Anyone who plays football can see it shouldn't have been a red, but (and Dan may be able to set me straight on this) don't the rules state that if a player goes in off the ground with studs showing (or something like that) then its a straight red? Referees have definately been advised that it isn't about whether they tackler wins the ball or not. I can understand why he gave it but still disagree.

And yes, the Bosingwa 'challenge' was hilarious. I'm assuming that because it wasn't given by the ref or the linesman that he could actually be subject to a retrospective ban?

Was a better game than I was expecting, but neither team looked great going forward. Gerrard should have had a yellow at least for his challenge earlier in the game on the edge of the Chelsea box and was lucky to stay on the pitch for 90 mins. To be honest, I think Fergie will be as happy with the result as he would have bene with a draw - reckon he feels that Chelsea are a bigger threat than Liverpool anyway.

Bizarre thing about the Bosingwa challenge is as soon as he does it the lino seems to flag a free kick against Liverpool!

Far too much diving this weekend. Duff, Taylor and Gerrard were all disgraceful.

Nath, you owe Mike Riley a present on his birthday now!

Not sure there is anything in the law book about having your studs high, more like 'dangerous tackle'. The ball was up at that height so he had to go for it and he got there before Alonso. But after what he said in the paper the day before, he probably wanted to break Alonso's ankle again. Interestingly, that's the 5th red card that has been given for a foul on Alonso this season emoticon

I think Bosingwa should get a 6 game ban.

Is that three for the original offence and three for not doing it well enough to make Benayoun unavailable for your future games?

Re: The Premiership thread

a lesson is learnt there from bosingwa dont time waste by a corner flag but it was a hilarious challenge!!

as for the game red card was never a red card not even a yellow!!

chelsea never looked like scoring at all (lack some serious width) and are in a mess fair play to liverpool who kept going!

gerrard diving again as always disgusting!! glad he was booked

Bosingwa isn't being charged!!!!

Apparently because the lino saw it and no action was taken, under FIFA rules no further action can be taken! What an absolute disgrace, the lino should be banned then!
