Spotted Naveen Andrews (Sayid from Lost) in The English Patient. Not a favourite film of mine, it is a little slow moving. It is well shot though. The kind of film the Academy love. It won 9 Oscars in 1998!!!

Re: The Film thread

Been catching up on my Oscar winning films, seeing Million Dollar Baby this weekend. Have to say I thought it was really good. The first 2/3 was pretty good, and then I thought it was excellent for the final third. Clint Eastwood's voice annoyed me a bit though. I've seen hardly any of his films, so does he always talk like that?

I watched Unforgiven on Saturday night. I don't usually like Westerns but I really enjoyed it. It is another of Eastwoods Films.

Great to see Slumdog do so well at the Oscars. I expected 4 or 5 so was pleasantly surprised to see it win 8.

Re: The Film thread

Went to see Watchmen last night. I haven't read the book, or 'graphic novel', so can't compare it to that, but as a film I thought it was very good. Great characters, great direction, great plot. Definitely recommend it, but don't take your parent(s) or girlfriend(s (the plural is for Shears and Ashton)) to see it with you.

Also, the seats in Showcase De Lux in Cabot Circus are very uncomfortable. Been there twice now and ended up with neck ache after. Other people were rubbing their necks too. So, go somewhere else to see it.

Watched a classic last night "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" an excellent film with great performances from Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Brad Douriff and Christopher Lloyd. I didn't recognise DeVito though.

Re: The Film thread

Watched Batman: The Dark Knight over the last few days. Thought it was very good, quite dark but very enjoyable, was never boring, had plenty of action. When Heath Ledgar won a BAFTA/Oscar (can't remember which one or both) for best supporting actor, I was a bit sceptical as I thought they'd given it to him to be kind as he tragically died, and it made me think wether he would have won it had he been alive. But after watching the film, I can see why, I thought he was excellent as the joker, he played a very good villain so I take it back.
