Ouch. But I could have told anyone that it wouldn't be worth seeing.

Re: The Film thread

Bought Quantum of Solice yesterday as it was only £7 in Tesco. What a poor Bond film. I was well disappointed.

a) No real story line to folow, just seemed to be about selling oil, which for a Bond film is a poor story, it should be about a villain wanting to take over the world/destroying most of it.

b) Crap villain. Some weedy guy who looked nothing like a proper Bond villain.

c) Bond never said 'Bond. James Bond'. You have to have that in a Bond film to make it a Bond film. He said it in the last one but right at the end, which fair enough, he'd only just become Bond.

d) The clip of Bond's sillouette walking and then shooting the camera with blood streaming down and then the classic Bond music was done with the credits. This should be done at the beginning of the film! And you should hear the music at numerous points throughout the film!

e) Bond's car makes 1 appearance. You don't see it again and there weren't any gadgets that he used from Q. Granted he's dead in real life but why aren't they doing that anymore.

f) The 1st scene of a Bond film should be a massive scene as it has previous. Take Goldeneye for instance, what a great opening scene. This one was poor and little happened. It should leave you saying 'wow'.

Bond doesn't feel like Bond anymore, just another action film. Previous Bond's before this one and the last one felt like Bond films. They are destroying the title.

Re: The Film thread

Watched a docu-film on the History channel on monday night called '102 minutes that changed America'. Basically it was footage of 9/11 but done in a 24 style where they put all footage together (news and homemade on video cameras). It started at about 8.45, just after the first plane struck and then continued minute by minute until after the 2nd tower collapsed. Most of the footage was never seen before stuff.

It was very well done, no commentary just the people on camera as they reacted. It was very harrowing, for example it showed numerous people falling from the building and you knew watching the firemen and police going towards the buildings that they were probably all dead now but it highlighted what the people of New York went through that day. Yes, you could say what a depressing thing to watch but it was very very good and gave you a real life insight into what happened.

I like the new bonds the last bond film CR is my favourite and this one I enjoyed, not as much but it was always going to be up against it with CR being so good. The last bond was the first in that he became Bond - they are reinventing the franchise and there isn't anything wrong with that. after the tosh that was Die another Day with CGI and Overload on gadgets and invisible cars it needed redirection.

i think the Gadgets will come back (hopefully not too much) and the theme will start to be reintroduced going forward, these two films are about reinventing Bond and I think they have done that and done it well. I agree about the opening scenes but it wasn't that bad just wasn't wow, but afraid to say other than a Brosnans films the opening scenes never had a wow factor.

Daniel craig has brought back a gritter more cold bond like connery was early on and it needed it, also DC does most of his own stunts which makes the film look quality and not fake as where a CGI PB surfing on some metal with a prachute is what really killed Bond.

QOS has to be seen as part two to CR and then it is a good film. It also has a great setup going forward. From what I gather Bond is now gonna be the hardened womaniser we all know and love with Vesper gone and he now has a new enemy to replace spectre in this new Organisation "Quantum" who put a much more realistic take on how to get world domination not just aim a nuclear weapon at America. the story in QOS was about revenge and him getting over Vesper and putting an end to that story. it was Also about Water not Oil so not sure what film you watched.

Green was a good enemy he had a hard edge to him but did look puney.

Hopefully the next one will really launch Bond back into the old style but hopefully being a bit more realistic than previous Bonds.

Best ever opening Bond scene was in "The Spy Who Loved Me" When after killing several villans while skiing. Bond skied of a cliff and pulled the cord to reveal the Union Jack Parachute.

Re: The Film thread

Saw watchman last week haven't come out of a cinema that disappointed for quite some time, possibly matrix 3 or 4th Indiana Jones.

It just confused the hell out of me was strange, not surprised Kirby understood it. I think you have to have comic knowledge before hand.
