They didn't really come that close?!?!?!

At 0-2 they were 1 goal away from going through.

At 3-4 the were 1 goal away from going through.

I'd say being 1 goal away (on 2 occasions) is pretty close!!

It was a good effort, but nothing more than that. And no, they didn't come that close - they needed to win by two clear goals and they drew. The scoreline at different points in the match is irrelevant - the only important scoreline is the score after 90 minutes.

Don't get me wrong - I wanted Liverpool to win the game ,would be really happy to see them win the league and I thought they put in a good effort last night, but the scoreline doesn't lie. It was just a great game.

Sorry but totally disagree. At 3-4 and 88 minutes on the clock, Liverpool were close.

That was horrible, fair play to the Dippers. Anyone that scores 4 at the Bridge deserves to go through.

I was seriously thinking I would be eating my words and using this :livid

I think this post, from a Chelsea fan, says everything about how close it was. You can't say it wasn't close because it was 4-4 at the end of the game. If you take that viewpoint, then no game is ever close unless it finishes in a draw.

Ronaldo's strike last night emoticon sorta stuff I write.

Davo I disagree with your comment on Liverpool. Considering the situation from the first leg they definitely came close. Overall we deserved to go through though as we scored more goals emoticon

Unbelievable. 2 blatent handballs and nothing given. Before people say they weren't handballs because they were hit from so close - you're wrong. Piqué's hand was out horizontily and Eto'o's arms were raised. Terrible reffing, UEFA blatently told him to stop Chelsea making it an all English final. Although he did send off Abidal when Anelka tripped himself. Feel a little sorry for Chelsea but laughed my ass off when Barca scored having not had a single shot on target.

Just seen the Malouda shout and how is that not a pen!?! The ref blew for the push when they were in the box, he's looking straight at it, unbelievable.

admittedly had liverpool been in Chelseas shoes I'd have been livid. But I am happy to laugh at any misfortune that comes their way.
Drogba is a disgrace and should be punished.

Agree with Dan here. Chelsea should have had a couple of penalties! I'm no Chelsea supporter, but they should have won, and had a few penalties on the way. Ah well, Utd will bring it home again emoticon

I think you've argued against yourself here Dan. If he was "blatently [sic] told...to stop Chelsea making it an all English final", why would he send Abidal off whilst Barca were 1 down?

Re the penalty shouts, I haven't seen the Eto'o one, so can't comment. The Malouda one looked like a definite pen (am I right in thinking the ref gave a free kick outside the box? Unbelievable if so). The Drogba one, I thought he looked for it and the ref actually got it right. The Piqué one is tricky IMO. You say his arm is out, which was the case, but from the one time I've seen it on the news this morning, it didn't look like he had it out trying to block a shot/pass, but it was just in a natural position for his balance. Not many people can run and change direction very well with their arms stuck to their sides. You've seen them given, but I thought it would have been harsh. I have only seen one replay in slo-mo though.

Afterwards though, some of Chelsea's players were a disgrace. I hope Drogba gets a lengthy ban. He's everything I despise in the modern-day footballer rolled into one. Terry, Ballack and Lamps didn't seem to be much better either. Ref was crap by all accounts, but that doesn't excuse that sort of behaviour. Who do they think they are? Counterslip?
