Afterwards though, some of Chelsea's players were a disgrace. I hope Drogba gets a lengthy ban. He's everything I despise in the modern-day footballer rolled into one. Terry, Ballack and Lamps didn't seem to be much better either. Ref was crap by all accounts, but that doesn't excuse that sort of behaviour. Who do they think they are? Counterslip?
With that kind of match, it would be hard to keep your emotions in. Some of these players may never get such a chance again, so you can understand their frustration..though, I agree, it's wrong to behave on that way!

Re: The Champions League thread
They get paid enough to be respectable role models for the world's youth, hate chelseas and drogba. Annoy me immensely they have ruined football with Roman Abramovich.

Re: The Champions League thread
Last night was a disgrace to football. We were completely shafted, it's clear UEFA didn't want an all English final again. It's obviously not on for the players to react how they did but you can understand their pain.
Also, people saying Barca were the better team are having a laugh. Yea they had more possession but over the two legs we created more clear cut chances and if Drogba had his finishing boots on we wouldn't have even needed the 3/4 blatent penalties that we should have had.
Complete joke :livid:

Re: The Champions League thread
Nath, trust me, the Pique one was a definate pen. Not only was his hand stuck out, he's stopped Anelka from having an obvious goal scoring opportunity.
Ballack was a joke too, should have been sent off IMO, he nearly assaulted the ref!
Was listening to 5live last night and some guy said he was watching with his 10 yr old son and heard what Drogba said to the camera. There is no excuse for that, irrespective of what game it is. Drogba should know that he has to behave as he's a role model to kids. He's the disgrace.

So Barcelona were more clinical then? Doesn't that potentially mean they were more worthy of the win?
1st one was a penalty, not convinced about any of the others.

Spoken to Fordy, and he said he thought it was a definite pen, so I'll concede to the people that have seen it more than once that it was.
Good article by Phil McNulty on the BBC website about it all. Ashton, from everything I've seen and read, Chelsea were shafted, but by an incompetent ref rather than a biased one.
Overall though, I'm pleased that Barca have gone through. Didn't enjoy the Chelsea-Man U final last year. Hopefully this one will be better, and we get a great Messi v Ronaldo comparison.

Re: The Champions League thread
As a Liverpool follower (Bristol City fan), i find it all a little bit funny, but i do feel for Chelsea big style.
They were robbed - end of. However anyone with a remote knowledge of football can deny that the Pique incident was a penalty deserves their head checking...
Yes he didn't move his hand deliberately towards the ball, but his arm was up. It's simple -
Ball touches arm + arm away from body (deliberate or not) = penalty.
