Re: Prayer request

That is crazy but surely the woman must have said more than just offer to pray. How could anyone be offended by that??

Saw on the news this morning that the trust that Caroline Petrie works for have accepted that she was only trying to help her patient and have said she can go back to work. emoticon

Re: Prayer request

Hi guys.

My university Christian Union is taking part in something called the FREE Gospel week this week.

Every day this week, we have a stall in one of the main buildings at university where we are giving out copies of Mark's Gospel.

They've been given a really cool artistic design to make them eye-catching, and a glossary of all the biblical words at the back to make them as easy to read as possible.

We're really hoping that people will be open enough to take one, and maybe even give it a read and consider the claims of Jesus.

We're also running a week of events in two weeks time. We have a pub quiz, a football tournament, a three course meal and a salsa class, each of them with a short Gospel talk and a chance for people to ask questions.

There's about 40 of us in the CU hoping to reach a campus of 20,000 and a lot of the CU are first year's who have never done anything like this before, so it's a bit scary for eveyone to be out there in this way.

For those of you that believe in prayer, it'd be great if you could pray for us, and all the other universities across the country doing the same thing in the next few weeks.

God has the power to use Mark's Gospel to change people's lives in the next few weeks, and we're really praying that he will.

I'll keep you guys updated on this thread for those that are interested.

thanks

Re: Prayer request

Bath Uni CU (with some extra helpers from church) are doing much the same this week, with events lunchtime and evening.

Re: Prayer request

Hi all

A few of you have probably heard of Hill House Camps. Basically, it's a summer camp that runs for 5 weeks during July/August. It's for 11-17 year olds, and is organised by the Bristol Christian Youth Trust. I've been a leader on one of the weeks for a while now, and it's a really good experience for those that go. You always see God working during your time there, and numerous young people become Christians at camp every year.

Anyway, I had an email from the guy that runs our week at camp last night. He'd been to a meeting for all the camp leaders the night before, and the number of kids that have signed up this year is significantly down on the numbers that we had this time last year. One of the weeks seems unaffected for some reason, but the remaining weeks are up to 50% lower than last year's figures I think. Obviously, the credit crunch is probably at least partly to blame for this.

If you could spare some time just to pray about this, then it'd be greatly appreciated. A full camp each week is definitely better than a half empty one, and it'd be a shame if any kids really wanted to come but were restricted by money worries.

Thanks emoticon

Numbers have improved on our week, but they're still down on last year. I actually went to a meeting last weekend, and was told that we've got about 50 kids at the moment on our week, when we usually have a full 75. There's likely to be a few more late entries, but it's looking like we might not be full which is a shame.

No idea how the other weeks are doing now.

Re: Prayer request

Just a quick prayer request for Turpin folks. He's had ulcerative colitis for about 5 years now, which generally doesn't affect him as he's careful about what he eats (he can't have any sugar for example :shockemoticon. However, it's flared up again over the last few days, and he's been losing a fair bit of blood, and hasn't been able to get into work.

I know he'd be grateful for any prayers.

Re: Prayer request

One of our lads James has really been taking an interest in God recently and has popped to church a bit recently. I found out yesterday he is going to get baptisted at a COE church in downend, gutted that's it not with us but chuffed he's making that step, I have questioned him about why he is doing it and it seems pretty genuine (although I worry about his knowledge) I am meeting him tomorrow night to have a bit of a chat about it, please can you pray for him that he is doing it for the right reason and also for me to say the right things tomorrow to keep him encourage, mainly I want to see him grow and move forward before and after the event so please keep him in pray that he will chose to continue to pursue being a Christian. He has already said he is going to try and start coming to our church going forward but would like to see him really devlop. definete oppurtunity their but I need a bit of Wisdom on how how to handle it especially with another church involved.

cheers
