I've seen too many races where the final laps have simply been a case of the first few cars not trying to overtake each other for fear of coming off, damaging the car etc. With a win becoming essentially even more valuable, I'd imagine this would happen less often.

You've not seen Hamilton race then.
Yes, I've watched him race. Thinking back to the last race of last season, was Hamilton not happily running along in fourth (I think - could have been third) trying to avoid getting into any trouble to maintain his points lead? The fact that the race became exciting had everything to do with the weather and nothing to do with Hamilton.

You can't base your theory on the last race of the season, when of course he's gonna maintain his position to WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP!
The rule change has been scraped until next year which is the main thing!

That was kind of my point Dan. Under the new rules that aren't going to happen anymore, he would have had to try and overtake rather than try and maintain his position. I know overtaking is a bit of a dirty word in F1, but I reckon if it happens a bit more then races might actually become interesting.
Either way, they're all subjective viewpoints. I know some people find cricket boring. Anyone who watched the recent test series in the Windies will know how wrong that is .
