Not really. It's just making sure the correct decision is made based on the rules.
Take rugby for example, they introduced the use of video cameras to help decide things.
At the Aus F1 race, the FIA made the correct decision based on the evidence they had. Now they've got new evidence, the must reconsider their decisions.
The courts do the same when sentencing criminals.
It's only football that doesn't really use facts like this - whatever the ref says goes, and we all know that decisions can be made that would be different if refs had video camera footage or whatever to help them decide.

At least in rugby the decision is made there and then, and only if the ref decides to use the video evidence. I don't think it looks very good for F1 that a race result is reversed several days after it happened. Surely it takes something away if you watch a race, but know that the result you see won't necessarily stand?

Agreed - also the way I see this is that Trulli went off the track, Hamilton slowed for Trulli to repass as he didn't know the rules. Nobody appealed it was just raised by the stewards that something happened. Now anyone watching TV can see hamilton slowed you don't need further evidence of this nor should McLaren be punished for with holdign evidence that was always available to stewards.
The way I see it common sense needs to prevail and that is something F1 stewards haven't shown ever. Trulli went off, Hamilton let him repass based on the fact he didn't know what to do (if he hadn't I am sure the stewards would have done him the other way round)race finishes Trulli 3 Hamilton 4. However the simple and logical thing to do would to say, thanks to hamilton for letting Trulli pass but that wasn't needed therefore he finishes 3rd Trulli forth as it would have been had Mclaren not let Trulli repass. Nobody else should benefit from it. Trulli made the mistake, Hamilton was just being careful. Both penalties towards Trulli and Hamilton were both a disgrace and a joke. How can Trulli be given 25 second penalty when the race finished under the SC and everyone was within 10 seconds or so.
The stewards have carried on where they lef off last year by victimising Lewis and making dumb judgments. Also there was 20mins minimum between Button winning and them getting on the podium surely in 20mins of looking at data they could finalise the positions so that the right person went onto the rostrum, in rugby they do it in a minute, surely the stewards need to pull their finger out and make sure that the final result is the final result and not have pending judgements through the following week.
Also Vettell getting a penalty is a joke as both racers were at fault.
f1 has got more exciting on the track yet stewards are trying their best to ruin it, they may as well pick their favourite 8 racers and at the beginning of the race and forget about the racing part. JOKERS

Re: F1 thread
Stewards are pretty batty. I think they just want some of the F1 lime-light. And Nath, it doesn't look great when they change their minds after. I was merely arguing with Eakes that it's not a 'farce'.

Re: F1 thread
I think Brawn GP have been holding back in the practice sessions to work on fine tuning rather than pace, hence Fezzas doing so well cos they're only flexing their kers around (hence Raikonnens smoke issue). Nice to see Williams out at the front again. After last weekend, they're definitely capable of winning trophies.
