Re: 2008/2009 - MVP's

Hi guys, just a quick question.

Last season each team received a trophy to give to their player who was awarded with the most MVPs.

Unfortunately neither myself or any of my Widcombe Corinthain team mates could attend the end of season event this year (I would have loved to of attended), and I wondered whether the same trophies were given out this season.

If they were, where/who can i collect it from?

They were. I expect Eakes or Ben can tell you how to get hold of yours.

1) MVP scoring. You are correct, the ratio won it.

2) MVP awards. I'm not sure what happened to the trophies but I'm hoping they may turn up at the AGM tomorrow night so your tam representative can pick it up then.

I think the MVP needs looking at. I have seen far too many teams this season, us included naming a player from the opposition as an afterthought. You get in the car park after the game and ask the opposition manager "by the way, what about the MVP?" Then you get a bit of awkward pondering and pick the goal scorer because he was the only one you can remember.

I have come away from games too many times thinking the wrong BS4 player has been picked and it leaves me wondering whether it has enough credibility.

I think we either get this right as a League or drop it.

I know we don't do it as an after thought myself and Joe discuss it and we often ask our team who they thought it was perhaps its something as a team you need to address bot the BCFA I think the format and way it's meant to be done is fine and it definetly shouldn't be scrapped. It is also hard not to give it to a goalscorer or keeper sometimes as if a team has a good attitude throughout then your next way of doing it is performance. Ricky and Ken gotta a load of MVP's but they both also have decent attitudes so it may sometimes look like performance wins over attitude but it is probably correct.

I think it is credible and if their is a problem it can only be with the team managers who pick MVP, the format I think is good if done right.

I agree with you Crofy... I think that although it may seem like it's always the best player - if the player in question had a stinking attitude there is no way we would give it to them.

I also discuss it with my team and in particular the player playing against them for 90 mins.

Crofty, don't worry. Last season I only got 1 and that was the one and only game I went in goal for. Someone telling me something?
